I am not surprised at all. Germany has a history of banning games. I think Soilder of Fortune for the PC was banned in Germany and that was a few years ago.

It' s no big deal, however since Germany is probably the biggest gaming country in Europe if you skip UK,yes i know UK is also a country, but i meant compared o England, many will miss out in it.

Germany has the biggest black market for games in Europe and so it won' t make a difference anyway.

Whats up with Germany banning every second game? Did Dead Rising ever get over there anyway after the ban?

So let me get this straight? Gears of War and Dead Rising aren' t available for purchase in germany and the sale of them is banned?

Avaric that isn' t correct, they are for sale in Germany. But its like with porn, you have to get up to the storekeeper and ask for a certain game like Dead rising/gOW and he goes into the storage and get it for you. But he cant show he has it. But selling it isn' t illegal. Its like with porn, its to hide these violent games for the most people while those who like these kind of gamesd will anyway find them.

pirating is very common there because it is such a hassle to get games legitimately.

Gasp, Germany pulls another shocker. I can see some basis behind it, but even still, it seems a little overkill.

It' s stupid in all honesty. If the rest of Europe has no problem with the game why do Germany? Dead Rising, Gears of War and now Crackdown? Whats so violent about Crackdown anyway. The other two have gallons of blood but I thought Crackdown had a sort of comic book look to it…

Australia is also fucked up. They tried to ban PGR2 cause it could make people drive fast in their city. They' re retarded.

I see, good thing they are still available, otherwise two of the strongest titles on the Xbox360 would be gone. So far, I don' t know a single Xbox owner without Gears, and most people buying them today list that as one of the reasons for purchasing it. Still though.....it' s a video game, and ones where you kill zombies and mutant locust things. I could understand soldier of fortune, that game was gory as hell and focused on killing humans and no game since then has really matched it for dismemberment. Kingpin was pretty gruesome too but it didnt sell very well. Either way, a games a game, and every country just needs to do a better job of making sure its only available to the proper age group listed on the game. You don' t see kids with lots of porn DVD' s and knives, but you do see them playing GTA and all sorts of FPS.
