So, I have played the Playstation 3.... - Dec 17, 2006 19:49
All I have to say is er-herm... .

Firstly, the game I played is Resistance: Fall of Man.

Wait, hold on.. the first thing I notice is the actual size of the thing, this thing is
huuge. I thought my 360 was massive, and I thought nothing could top the
X-behemoth, but PS3 just blew away the competition with its sheer physical
presence. After spending 10 minutes woefully marvelling at the PS3' s bootylicious
curves and bustling waist line, I turn my eye to the thing that matters: the games.

Foremostly, R: FoM is a big disappointment to me, I know it' s a launch title
this, and developers haven' t had time with the hardware that but my
expectations wouldn' t be akin to the 2nd coming of Christ had Sony not turned
their hype meter to full throttle.

Surprisingly, Perfect Dark 0 looks a great deal better even with it' s over
the top shine, textures and bump mapping - which is markedly better than washed
out colours, lo-res textures.

Considering how many calculations the Cell can supposedly do, it was very difficult to find destructible backgrounds, things like chairs and tables stood their
ground against an onsalught of opposing and defending bullets, next I tried to
shoot the walls...

This is the kind of thing I think that I may have to go back and check again
due to the sheer disbelief of a next-gen (now should be called current-gen) title
missing such a feature, why are there no bullet holes created when you
shoot the walls?? Even old-gen games have it, but why not Resistance?

As I said, I' ll go and play it again, as I am shocked with disbelief.

Also, it may have been the TV I was playing on (a HD CRT) or the incorrect
component cables, or whatever, but not only did I notice that Resistance looks a lot like that game BLACK, but another customer came behind me
and asked if that was the PS2? I pointed at the PS3. His reaction? " It' s a bit sh!t
isn' t it?"

There were other comments too:

" What' s all that size being used for then?"

Me: " The Blu Ray drive."

" What' s " blu-ray?"

Today, I am going there to play Ridge Racer 7... (Even though I have a feeling it will be horrid) just to know what it is like, but the game I am really waiting for is MotorStorm, because to be quite frank the whole PS3
thing is a big box of hot air and empty vessels (hypothetically speaking, really, it' s
very quiet, surprisingly quiet, too quiet - impressive.)

This feedback was generally meant for people in the Uk/Europe who have yet to
play the PS3.

Does anyone on Kikizo, actually own a PS3??
