When and if the Price comes down.

How much do you guy think Sony needs to drop the price to get more console sales.

I thinking at least 100 bucks That would get it crackin. It would also get me an 100 back. I plan on taking mine back to get the difference. lol

I dont know the USA market,but there is atleast 70-80 millions of ps2 owners who hasn' t decied yet.

This and next year will be crucial...for all three companies.

No way they do a $100 price drop. If there' s any price drop, it' s going to be more like $30-50.

While it would be unorthodox for them to do a $100 USD price drop, it' s also unorthodox for a game console to cost $600.

Sure, a $30-50 price drop would boost Sony' s sales, but for how long? The PSP' s sales had a nice boost with their $30 price drop, but sales are currently evening out again, and they only dropped it' s price what, a month ago? You could argue that they should do that twice, and have 2 great months, however think of it this way. Is a 2 month sales reprieve really going to boost their sales in the long run?

Americans are going to need to see a 4 in that price tag before we see units leave the shelves in any large numbers.

Early adopters get shafted. Sony knows that, Microsoft knows that.

Edit: I should clarify, when I said 2 small price drops in 2 months, I didn' t mean in 2 months the price goes down $100. I mean to say that we' d get a price drop in oh, I dunno, July. And then we' d get another one come the holidays.

It will certainly go down mora than 100 bucks since its more than 100 bucks cheaper to manufacture now then when they launched it, besides, they can make money through the game sales, if they don' t lower the price enough, they will still be losing money with the hardware sales and with the game budjets

Component cost and MSRP don' t directly correlate. Just because it' s more than $100 cheaper to make doesn' t mean that they' re passing on that extra windfall to you. In all honesty they' re still most likely not profiting from the PS3 yet, and it' d be foolish to think they were. They' re going to do everything they can to get out of the hole with software licensing, but considering their current trend of losing top-dollar exclusives they' re going to need all the help they can get.
