I mean, it' s not Uwe Boll, but still... I liked Mouse Hunt, and the Original Pirates of the Caribbean, but he' s a total mixed bag as a director as far as I' m concerned.

He' s got a good track record so far for the most part. I havent hated any of his movies so that' s an instant plus.

Pirates 2 and 3?

I' ve liked a lot of his older movies, like I said, Mouse Hunt, and the Weather Man wasn' t bad, but the last 2 Pirates movies really shook my faith in his directing ability.

I enjoyed all three Pirates movies. Sure the 3rd one was a cluster f*ck of plot twist, double crosses, overdone battle segments, ugly giant woman, and such but it wasn' t a horrible movie. I thought Weather Man was excellent.

Really with event he first Pirates movie under his belt I' m quite happy. He' s already shown he' s got good experience with the whole ocean environment coupled with CG. I think he' s an great choice.

Well, succesful trilogies are the ones with story arcs that require 3 movies to tell. Star Wars, LOTR, etc. Pirates is one of those that was simply extended to make more money. No one really needed 2&3, all the interesting stuff happened in the first movie.

As long as he' s not force to make a sequal, this should be sweet.
