a crucial step in for videogames. - Oct 21, 2006 21:49

there was a time when videogames were seen as the ENEMY of education.
the kids that prefer to sit over monitors instead of their books haunted over
anxious parents and kids gamely argued for the purchase of a computer which
would help them with their homeworks.while secretly planninng basic based games?
thats left three major camps needing convincing if the teaching of game-related
subjects was ever going to flourish

the first was the institutions themselves.without their willingness to support this strange new field,it wouldnt matter how much people wanted to learn about it, it would easily become a bedroom obsession.
and it wasnt all that long ago that it seemed a profoundly prospect : film had earned
a spot in higher education, but the tabloids were still happy to titter at news of someone basing their phd on the simpsons.
how much more ridiculous to go to university to play pacman ??
but thanks god as the rapidly expanding course roster shows,
GAMES AND LEARNING ARE A NATURAL FIT.

long live the videogames !
