I wouldnt ignore the many great alternative DS games, such as Pheonix Wright, rhythm tengoku, elite Beat Agents, Korg DS 10  ECT, they can be just as entertaining, if not more entertaining than the more traditional arcade games.

I was also wondering if there were some specific DS Lite games that I didn't know about. 
Otherwise lots of good games have been mentioned above so I can't add much.

Ive been interested in the Castlevania games on DS(Dawn of Sorrow and the new one), and am tempted to take the handheld plunge before Spring semester starts.

Am I missing something about the original Phantasy Star's? I had the Phantasy Star Collection for GBA back in the day, and never could get into it.

Hm, maybe it was better to experience the games when they got released I guess. That being said, I think that reviewers found the different games to differ a bit in quality. I played a couple of them and didn't like all of them. I did like Phantasy Star Online though, Universe was a bit different. So I'm a little curious to see how this DS game will end up. Considering that it's supposed to be more like PSO.
