Radio Shack actually paid good money to register "Do Stuff" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Huh.

They piss me off somethin' fierce. I try to buy local when I mod. I have a very cool old-school electronics store in my area that is the ultimate haven for CB radio fans, stereo-jockeys and suitcase bombers, but on occasion they don't have a more recent part [they don't stock much in the way of digital components, or anything on a PCB], and I need to make a trip to the Rat Sack...

I don't know if the folks there are on commission, but if they're not, they might as well be. To start, they treat me like I'm twelve, because they see I've pedaled up on a bicycle, and have a backpack on, somehow ignoring the fact that I'm six feet tall and built like a husky rugby player. After assuring them that I'm not there to purchase a ridiculously priced toy or cellular phone, I make my way back to the ever-shrinking component section (the one that took up... like... the entire store ten years ago), and there I run into another representative, who tells me I look like the type who's coming back there for speaker wire....

so after politely fucking him off, I get to the real components, and the guy is sitting there, explaining to me what all the components are (incorrectly). So I pick out what I need, (some wiring, a switch, and some project parts), go to the counter, and try to explain to the jackass that I'm wiring a very small Peltier Junction to a hacked computer power supply to run a homemade popcorn machine....

Dude had no f*cking clue what I was talking about.

Yeah, those people at Radio Shack don't know what the hell they're talking about most of the time.  Kinda hard to expect anything more, though.

It's the same problem with every electronics store.  They want to set them up and market them as being these friendly advice-givers.  In actuality they're desperately fighting each other for commissions.  I never go into one of those stores without having already done all my research and having decided what I'm getting.  I walk in, grab what I want, and take it to the cash register.  Five desperate sales associates are watching me like I'm a fucking antelope wandering across the savannah to the watering hole, hoping they can pounce and give me some advice on buying a damn television.

Ok, so back to the subject.

They need to drop the price of that damn 120GB hard drive!  I was looking at a bunch of downloads that I want, but I don't feel like deleting old stuff.

Is there any way to use a USB hard drive or something?  I mean, other than for streaming music.

Nope.

If you can find the right model of WD BEVS hard drive online though, formatting is a cinch. They ran about 40 bucks on amazon/ebay the last time I was there.

Man that is why I think Ps3 is much better than the 360 as a media centre, when using the 360 its like its not my console... that microsoft just rented it out to me and want it back after a while, i cant copy music to the hard drive, cannot connect an external hdd, hell we cant even update the hard drive without buying a specialy made one which is way over priced.

The PS3 pwns the 360 as a multimedia device though, no doubt about it.
