Nintendo Rules over US again!!
-
May 18, 2007 09:32
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5678&Itemid=2 The top ten selling handheld and home console games in the US were Pokemon Diamond (DS, 1.045 million) Pokemon Pearl (DS, 712,000) Super Paper Mario (Wii, 352,000) Wii Play w/ Remote (Wii, 249,000) Guitar Hero II w/ guitar (360, 197,000) Guitar Hero II w/ guitar (PS2, 142,000) Spider-Man 3 (360, 117,000) Spider-Man 3 (PS2, 105,000) God of War II (PS2, 101,000) MLB ’07: The Show (79,000). DS sold the most hardware with 471,000 and Wii sold the second-most with 360,000 units. PlayStation 2 sold 194,000 units, PSP sold 183,000 following its April price drop, Xbox 360 sold 174,000, Game Boy Advance 84,000, PlayStation 3 82,000 and GameCube 13,000. Xbox 360 and PS3 sold 199,000 and 130,000 units in March, respectively. Life-to-date sales for the major platforms in the US are Xbox 360 with 5.4 million units, Wii with 2.5 million, PS3 with 1.3 million, DS with 10.9 million and PSP with 7.4 million. LOL Nintendo' s consoles outsold everyone else. The Wii outsold the ps3 & 360 combined. Wii running out of steam? Looks like its just getting warmed up! Wiiplay still sells in the top 10? Holy f**kin $#!t!! The ps3 can' t even outsell the GBA?!?!?

Well, to be fair, it' s more like the Wiimote which happens to come with Wiiplay is selling in the top 10. No knock against the game, which is fun, but people want more of those remotes.

No the games are a nice diversion but nothing more. Fact is why would anyone spend US$10 more if the wanted a Wiimote? Thats why it still genuinely surprises me that it still in the top 10 in US & i think Japan. IF stuff like this sells this well imagine how well Wii healthpack, Brain game and Wii music pack will sell!!

In general, the Wii is set to sell way more than the 360 and the PS3, the games however.... Wii is so much of a good thing that it' s appealing more to the les hardcore gamers, so franchises like Metroid and Zelda won' t really appeal to these guys, because they still won' t really have a clue how to play it, hence why Twighlight Princess (as far as I recall) didn' t sell too hotly. Impressive number though I must admit.

Do you only ever post numbers pertaining to the Wii or DS, or when other consoles are doing worse than expected? We get it already, you love the Wii, rag on the ps3, and don' t care about the 360.

It' s good that Nintendo consoles are selling well. It should get the 3rd party developers who hasn' t supported Nintendo to do so now. And it' s good that Nintendo is getting loads of money so that they can continue making consoles. Only bad thing is that sales figures means nothing for the quality of a console. Just because it sells well doesn' t mean the consumers are getting something good. To me, people are paying for full meals but are getting empty plates right now. Until Nintendo offers some food that I can put on that plate I' m not getting a Wii. So far there' s only been appetizers like Zelda Tp and Wii sports. I want the main course! Give me Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy!

The only reason a few Wii games are selling well is because Wii only has a few games. LOL, look at the total game sales for the console.

A LAME STATISTICS THREAD!!!
-
May 19, 2007 08:36
Erm... tell me you mean a Pokemon game for the Wii. There' s gonna be no " Wii Pokemon" RE: Nintendo Rules over US again!! You can always tell when these kinds of threads pop up. It' s the exclamation points y' see? Nintendo " ruling" the US is not a good thing. The best thing for the market would be an annual market share of 30% a piece with the occasional company spurting ahead, and the other companies competetive answers to bring them back down. One company ruling the industry blows. (1990 anybody?) By now though, the astute members of the forum are all asking where the hell the other 10% went right? The GP2X will remain at 10% market share for all of eternity!!!

I don' t know. I kind of miss the dictatorship Nintendo had going in the early 90' s. At least they had good third party titles!

Lol, Nintendo have soo read the industry better than Sony / MS this generation and it' s so good to see their ideas / Business plans take off! They didn' t read what I wanted. I don' t fall for gimmicks, and I don' t buy into hype. So I don' t want a Wii now, and not until they have at least 5 games on the way that I' m interested in. As it is, all I would play is Twilight Princess, and look forward to Mario Galaxy. I' ve played video games since I was 4, and have owned nearly all the consoles since then, while having a good PC the whole time. After so many years, I can honestly say that the Wii doesn' t deliver what I expect from a next gen console. Until they prove that having a unique controller is better off than having great graphics, innovative physics based gameplay, and the majority of next gen titles, then I will not believe they chose the right direction for a true gamer. I just don' t see how any gamer can argue that its better to have that controller than having HL2 Orange Box, Portal, CoD 3 and 4, Gears, God of War, MGS, Forza 2, GT5, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Assasins Creed, Oblivion, UT 2007, Warhawk, LittleBigPlanet, Spore, GRAW2 and so on, Raimbow Six, Uncharted, DMC4, GTA4, NGS, Team Ico games, VF5, Fable 2, The Darkness, that one 360 adventure crime game thing I cant think of no matter how hard I try(someone has to know what im talking about).

And a high-endurance sport' s cup. Yeah, Nintendo Wii rules! I' m planning to buy one this december if it' s possible. Anyway, i think the Wii is way better than the PS3, what do you guys think? Stay on topic with your discussion Wiifan. Taking a subject off topic doesn' t do anything for the thread, especially when it' s a useless question like that. Start your own thread for that & see how many serious answers you get.
