Microsoft finally getting to grips with advertizing! - Dec 04, 2006 02:01
Sony know how to market their products. They do it en mass and in all the right places. It looks like Microsoft have been taking note...

They started with cool TV ads, progressed to completely taking over the free Metro newspaper throughout Europe (it' s commonly found on busses, trains etc) which had 40 pages of 360 ads in it, and now they' re spending some serious money and filling slots where EVERYBODYcan see them.

Tomorrow both Europeans will get to see the first (completely CG) Halo 3 ad. In the US it' ll be shown at the Superbowl and in the EU it' ll be watchable on Xbox.com (and likely made available as a download on XBLM). Then, from 4th Dec - 30th Dec, Capcom and Microsoft have filled daily 30 sec slots on the 3000 square foot NBC SharpVision HDTV screen in Times Square, New York City.

More advertizing like this is obviously needed throughout the world but it' s nice to see that they' re figuring out how it' s done.

Glad they' re taking a leaf out of Sony' s book. On a slightly off topic note, anybody here saw GI' s bleeding chess-piece PS3 ad? It was really really eerie.

Majik, it' s not the Super Bowl, it' s just a weekly Monday night game. The Super Bowl is always in late January/early February... and traditionally is the most expensive advertising event in the world!

Yeah, like next week' s match between the Trentford-on-Stump Blighters and the Shropfordshire Plague is the same as the World Cup.

Edit: My bad, in Majik' s parlance, that should be " Worldcup."

Soon America will be owned by Microsoft, anyways. Then they' ll buy Urop and instead of Francs, Pounds, and Euros you' ll be using Microsoft Points!

That' s actually not such a bad idea in some respects... Then Microsoft can add a variety of new services to Xbox Live, such as Escort services in which for 5,000 Microsoft Points, Xbox Live subscripers can acquire the services of a lovely lady (or man) for the evening!

If all your personal particulars and financial accounts are stored in Microsft OS computers; then technically you could be ' owned' by MS.

Unless you' re on a Mac.

I can recognise that to a great extent, the people who buy Macs because they belive they give you more for your money. But for gods sake, I know people who buy a Mac to fight the man. That' s just sad.

Macs just do the same job for more money. I' ve been a photographer and a repairer of computer hardware and pound for pound they just cost more.

As for MS, I went to see a film on friday night and say 4 yse 4 360 ads. Very impressive actually!
