Anyone else listen to movie soundtracks? - Jul 02, 2004 04:06
I just recently got into them. I find movie soundtracks to be a lot more helpful in the creative process than my typical blend of R&B, Rock, Punk, etc, genres I listen to while writing. Also, some movies just have flat out great soundtracks that deserve to be listened to. I' m almost upset at myself that I decided to wait so long. Right now I' m listening to some tracks from The Alamo. Never saw the movie, but there are some great songs on the soundtrack.

I liked Kill Bill' s western-ish soundtrack, it was played in my cd player many a week. I' m also a big fan of action movie soundtracks such as Freddy Vs. Jason, Blade, and Spiderman. I also liked the Lord of the Rings soundtracks.

Rocky V? Ew. All chinsey and cheap sounding. The jerk who did Transformers the Movie was much better.

Best soundtrack I' ve listened to would be Pulp Fiction.

They sometimes tend to be quite hit and miss due to the variety of musical genres involved. Recently I' ve been listening to a couple of tracks off the girl next door and mean girls soundtracks.

lol, Rocky 4 not 5 :p... The 2 songs that I liked the most in Rocky 4 (Training Montage and War) were done by Vince DiCola, the same guy who did the Transformers the Movie score..

I REALLY REALLY wish he would get into game music! He' s a musical genius and definitely my favorite movie composer.

Word has it that Vince DiCola worked on a Nintendo game. The game sold poorly, and Nintendo fired and murdered him while he was looking at his dented car on the side of a busy highway.

LoL.. Nintendo probably learned that he helped Gunpei Yokoi develop the Virtual Boy so they had to fix Vince like they did poor Gunpei.

Let me clarify that I meant ' musical scores' (music made specifically for the film; often consisting of just instruments) and not just soundtracks in general.

I started downloading soundtracks not so long ago.

Before i only downloaded themes from TV shows or movies. Then i found out its easier to download the whole soundtrack.

Right now i have about 15 movie soundtracks.

Yes I do, I find them helpful for when I need to be creative or do some serious thinking. Tops of my list include Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans.
