8800 ULtra demo (amazing rendering)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIGWAYS5uRw&NR=1 i' ve been amazed with the quality, it lok so real, however they Only display a head while changing lighting and camera angles, i think rendering this quality of realism in a full game (full character model, open enviroment, load of textures ) it' ll bring this GPU down to its knees.

You buy into this? Same developers who said Geeforce 3 could create the whole Final Fantasy movie and show it in real time. yeah right, you would need like a geeforce 7800 min for that.

the whole picture is not really impressive quez , i believe that a 8800 ullta can DEFINITLY DO THAT , but in real gaming to meet this quality , we should wait another year or two. AND NO even a 7800 cannot render final movie at 30fps, no fucking way, and i suppose you' re talking about Spirit within ...

Yes,Nvidia said they could render the movie withot problems with a G3,which was BS. I wanna see a G3 do that now,it fucking dies from an heart attack if you play doom3 with shadows on.

Yeah amazing price too. I don' t really feel like paying 900$ for a videocard. When I can get a 8800GTX for 650$. The 8800ULTRA is just an overclocked GTX with a modified cooler giving you maybe 5-10% performance boost. If you want the best 8800, get the EVGA 8800gtx ACS3, same performance as the ULTRA but over 100$ less. But if you really want to spend 900$ on videocards get two 8800GTS 640mb in SLI instead of one ULTRA. I' m waiting for ATI' s DX10 cards. The HD 2900xt is looking pretty sweet. In the very least we' ll see price drop on Nvidias cards after the 2900 series come out next week.

yep , i know the story about that 8800 ultra , it' s a rip off, you can get EVGA 8800gtx ACS3 with the same perfomrance, and you don' t even want this one, a plain 8800 GTX is amazing. i' m worried about ATI though , they still didn' t release their x2900 XT, they didn' t even post a release date, at least i don' t know about it... rumors say that it' s almost on par with a 8800 GTX , so they make people wait to release a similar power of a card released months earlier ? doesn' t make sense ... wait and see

Most likely the HD2900 series are better at DX10 applications. Prelim tests show that currently the 8800 series has a very slight edge in real world DX9 apps but we' ll have to wait for retail to see. In the long run, ATI' s cards are probably going to come out on top. Last I heard, the release date for the HD2900 series was mid May. But ATI is renowned for fucking up release dates and having " paper launches" where cards are so limited that few consumers can actually buy them. They' ve already delayed it enough, so hopefully their merger with AMD actually taught them something about launching properly.

well the financial turmoil that amd suffers lately is no good indication. since their acquisition of ati, they have been postponing the DX10 series to i don' t know when. AMD had also major trouble facing the fierce competition by intel, i wonder what happened to them.

Most likely the HD2900 series are better at DX10 applications. That' s what I' ve read. The NDA is lifted along with the launch on the 14th of this month, I think that' s next Tuesday. I' ll probably buy a 2900xt if the rumors about price and performance pan out. As for DAAMIT in hot water. Personally I don' t think AMD expected C2D to be such a success when they planned to aquire ATI. They certainly didn' t expect the price war or marketshare loss with the CPUs. I still think aquiring ATI was a good idea though. As long as they survive the next two years, they' ll be in a really good position. I think they have Barcelona coming up in a few months, giving them an architecture superior to C2D. Their biggest hurdle once they reach that point is the fact that INTEL can reach smaller fabrication proccesses much sooner. However it looks like they are teaming up with IBM to help them out with that. I really like AMD, they' re innovative enough to compete with a company ten times their size and even land some good blows. I have a lot of faith in AMD I' m sure they' re not going anywhere. Fuck, you know how horrible it would be if we only had Intel? We' d all still be on the netburst architecture, *shivers*.

I' m waiting for the 8900 series or until the 8800GTX drops in price. It still costs almost $700cnd here. I' ve seen 8800GTX' s got for as low as $550usd. Considering that 1usd is .92cnd, I know prices in Canada should drop pretty soon. There' s a really good deal for Canadians at NCIX where I can get a 8800GTS (640mb), for only $365.00cnd and I thought about it but I want something like a GTX.
