Xbox 360 to be Profitable by 2008

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7173 Well i guess that means microsofts long term business model for the xbox brand is working. Obviously it has a ways to go before it pays of the massive debts it racked up creating brand recognition, but atleast its on track. Now would it be safe to say that if microsoft starts to make a profit from the 360, isn' t it only fair that the quality of the 360 also improves (they no longer need to cut corners in production)ie a significant reduction in the instances of the Red ring of death?!

Depends on whether they end up in a price war with Sony. If PS3 stays on it' s arse and the 360 gets some games with a broader appeal than FPSs then it has a chance of becoming profitable. Otherwise there' s no reason to believe it will lose any less money than Xbox1.

I' d rather have the Xbox Live gold fee removed. Why does everyone through a fit about paying $50 a year? How many games do you buy that you play maybe 5 times and never touch again? Thats the equivilant of a year of live

It' s not the amount of money. The fee could be 50 cent, I would still complain. What' s bothering me is the fact that I can play online games on the PC, DS, PSP or the PS3 for FREE. Why then do I have to pay to play online on the 360? I don' t care how much it costs MS to run Live, all I know is that I have the option of playing similar games as theirs, but for free. I simply don' t like their business model for the online games.

Because 50$ is ridiculous. Servers don' t cost that much to run. The profit margin on a Gold subscription can' t be all that shabby.

It should be free - I' d spend more on downloadable stuff it is was and MS takes a cut on that no doubt. and you' re lucky it only being $50, we pay £35 here which under current exchange rate is $70!
