Oh shit... - Mar 29, 2006 05:36
I can' t believe Dynasty Warriors 5 was released today. As if my 360 isn' t already a black hole for my free time. How am i supposed to balance two first person shooters (Graw and Cod2) along with my two gaming obsessions Elder Scrolls series and the Dynasty Warriors series.

Its a great time to be a gamer but not a good time to be a person with a life, speaking of which I think its high time I quit my job. I' m tired of working for those degenate fuck-ups anyways, so much so that it has greatly affected my health. Money ha, who needs it when a TES and a DW game has been released in the same month. I think I' ll just do what that Korean guy did. I' ll lock myself in my room and play untill I die, I won' t sleep or eat I' ll just play. I' m in good shape I might last four to five days without water. Trading 40 years of dehumanizing labour for a week of gaming bliss sounds like a good deal right now.

I know the feeling. As if i didn' t have enough time to play DoA4, GRAW, CoD2 and Oblivion (the games taking up most of my gaming time), i now have to get Far Cry: Predator on Friday...

It looks so good!

...please elaborate... ..the scenario is so post-21st techo anti-socialist*... ...i' d have thought such an event could only happen in Japan (for at least the next decade or so)

Funny you said that, that' s exactely what a fellow co-worker said to me as I came into work the other day, no joke.

As for the Korean guy I was being flexible with details. He didn' t lock himself in a room infact he went to an internet cafe and played WOW for 48 hours straight and resisted being asked to leave. He died while playing, apparently he came into the cafe after already playing for an extended period of time. I was pretty impressed when i read this. A lesser man would have passed out but not this guy.

I took the following from some forum somewhere...

" found this article on MSNBC.com thought it was pretty crazy. Some people are way too obssessed with video games...

SEOUL, South Korea - A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old man, identified only by his family name Lee, had been playing online battle simulation games at the cybercafe in the southeastern city of Taegu, police said.

Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play online games on Aug. 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said.

" We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.

Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported after interviewing former work colleagues and staff at the Internet cafe.

After he failed to return home, Lee' s mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee said he would finish the game and then go home, the paper reported.

He died a few minutes later, it said.

South Korea, one of the most wired countries in the world, has a large and highly developed game industry.

...apart from the loss in motor control...

Blurred vision, wierd black spots affecting your vision, being in drunken-like state, not being able to think straight, hallucinations etc...

More than 48hrs without sleep can TOTALLY fuck you up!

Bah! You guys want to know what can get really freaky? Ok, here it goes: staying asleep in bed as long as you can. Strange things happen with your mind when you try to sleep when you don' t have the need to...

I stayed in bed for 23 hours once, and never got out. I wasn' t sick or anything it was summer break had nothing to do and I decided to see if I can stay in my bed 24 hours. No books, tv,handhelds or anything to entertain me. I almost made it too but I really had to piss. Mentally I was fine just bored but physically I was fucked up, my legs were like jello my bladder felt like it was trying to re-route urine back into my kidneys and I was so hungy I found myself chewing on my pillow. Good times, I don' t have time to do stuff like that anymore.

Some day i want to see how long I can stay awake but I don' t think it would be very long. I would pass out after 30 hours I think.

only 30 hours? i would think for a person who managed to stay in bed for 23 hours, that would be easy. But I have never tried it, so i cannot say.

...staying awake for long periods is difficult when doing normal tasks, but easy as f*ck if you spend most of the time doing artwork, writing or some other immersive creative task....

....the easiest overall method, is ofc through playing some insanely complex/long RPG....

...just make remember to take regular breaks to eat and rest your eyes.....

All You have to do is put your hand on your nose and take deep breaths, then you will stay awake after half an hour of doing this. You don' t need caffiene, and you' ll feel fine for the next 8-10 days without sleep, then you pass out and sleep for a long time, you wake up with a sort of hangover and you' re weak, you feel dizzy for a while, and you have really bad gas. (I' ve done this 3 times this year, once for vacation, once for generally no reason, and once because I had to beat We Love Katamari.) I had soft tacos from Taco Bell every day (Yes I can drive when On An " Insomnia" -Trip, Like I said, hold your nose and take deep breaths, it' s like hypnosis ;))

Silentbomber I' m a heavy sleeper so staying in bed was easy for me as I was able to sleep for 16 hours. For the same reason, staying awake for 30+ hours would kill me.
