jakfan. I phoned sony over the same issue with a 2 and a half year old PS2. They told me my warranty was up, and I simply said I paid a pile of money for something took great care of it, and now it doesn' t work. Be nice and you should get results. After I asked him if sony builds devices designed to fail after 2 years so that I have to buy new ones he offered to fix it for free for me. After 2 failed refurbished models being sent to me, eventually I got a free brand new PS2 out of the deal.

M$ isn' t much better, but at least they voluntarily fixed those units with issues (mine, at least).

Does GC have these issues? Maybe that would be something to consider for one' s next-gen purchase - a system that doesn' t break down.

My first GameCube died after leaving it on for 2-3 days once whereas my PS2 is like a tank and has been left on for an entire week before with no problems.
