The Great War (Hey All You Canadian Guys!!!)

Unless you' re in Canada, (or 1/2 an hour away from Canada in my case) this probably won' t affect you, but CBC is doing a really awesome special on Vimy france, during WWI. While I really like a good WWII flick, I' ve got to say, this is pretty darn good. I' ve been watching, seeing how weapons & tactics evolved in some 30 years & it' s really really cool. It' s on at 8:00 tonight EST (8 for me & Ghost at least, I dunno how many of us are in the area.) Lemme know if anybody else catches it.

Talking about how the Germans mounted pairs of machine-guns on the flanks of trenches to cut down the idiot Allies? Let me know if it shows some bayoneting. You can' t beat some good ol' bayoneting.

Yeah, but after you' ve worn out the Band of Brothers megaset... I' m waiting for them to release " The Pacific" . The same people that did Band of Brothers are filming a thing on the Pacific theater. I might just pay to see that one. Talking about how the Germans mounted pairs of machine-guns on the flanks of trenches to cut down the idiot Allies? Mmmmmmmmm yeah. 30% Spikey-Headed guys pwning the Canadians & British. 30% Nice trench-scenes. Tons of bayonetting & poorly shot Enfields. Very cool. 10% Biological warfare. That 10% equals a really cool scene in a field full of mustard-gas & Germans in gas masks. 20% Present family pretending they know what it' s like to live through war after going on some tours of Vimy. 10% Cool CG battleground shots with people ' sploding & guns blazing. Choice. Personallly? I' d TiVo it, & skip through all the bits involving the whiny 20-30 somethings. Hearing the mini-van driving Woodie Allen whine-alike talk about honor, sacrifice & the horrors of war was just too much for me to take.
