LINK While i agree that 2D games " will never die" , it sounds more like an excuse not to develop another 3D Castlevania to me. They' ve never sold well compared to the 2D games and have always disappointed. When you look at games like God of War though it' s hard to believe that an experienced Japanese studio can' t pull off a super successful 3D Castlevania...

When you look at games like God of War though it' s hard to believe that an experienced Japanese studio can' t pull off a super successful 3D Castlevania... Im probably wrong, but isnt GOW Non-Jap? So wouldnt a better comparison be Ninja Gaiden?

God of War was programmed by Yankees. Some games just don' t work well in 3D. Castlevania seems to be one of them. Sonic is another. God of War would probably make for a horrible 2D game.
