Star Trek XI The new cast?

Apparently a new Star Trek film is pencilled in for Xmas 2008, JJ Abrams (MI3 and Lost.) is down to direct, however this is not the statling news, it appears that whilst the characters stay the same (Kirk, Spock, Bones McCoy and Scottie.) The actors will change......MATT DAMON is being touted as being the front runner to play James Tiberius Kirk.

I' ve heard about the movie but I didn' t know they were using new actors. Matt Damon? WTF? Bah, I never liked the original series anyways. It was all about Voyager and Deep Space Nine with me.

Be interesting to see who they had as Spock, in Undiscovered country they had a very young and dare I say quite sexy Kim Catrall as a vulcan.

For me the best series were Voyager and Enterprise, next Gen got very silly in the end.

I vote Queen Latifah as Lt. Uhura and John Cho as Sulu.

Mr. Spock - Eddie Murphy
Dr. McCoy - Jack Nicholson
Mr. Sulu - Jackie Chan
Lt. Uhura - Beyonce Knowles
Mr. Scott - Forest Whitaker

Joe you are joking, an oscar winning actor in a Star Trek film, is a bit far fetched but 3 is totally beyond the realms of believe.

I would assume a new cast would be made since its about the early years when Spock and Kirk first meet at the academy...itd be a bit hard to cast Nimoy and Shatner in those roles nowadays wouldnt it?

Tho i do hate the choices for the actors. Mat Damon fuck no... The dude from The Pianist as spock fuck no... and Gary Sinicci...or whateve r as McCoy ahg. The latter 2 may work sor tof for appearence reasons but Matt Damon grrr I hop eto hell not.

I do like the director and writers tho.

They are talking about the scottish actor from " The last king of scotland." I would prefer some not so well known actors to get the parts in keeping with the original series.

As long as they don' t go down the remake of Battlestar Galactica road though, some of the acting in that is more wooden than in Neighbours / Falcon Crest or days of our lives.
