Japan Charts: Sega' s Let' s Make J-League... ' 04 takes a second week at the top

Market drops overall, despite three new titles in the top five

There was no change at the top of the Japanese software chart this week, as Sega' s Let' s Make J-League Pro Soccer Club ' 04 made it a fortnight at number one - but sales slipped overall after last week' s huge launches.

Namco' s Xenosaga Episode 2: Jenseits von Gut und Bose slipped a single place, dropping to number three to make way for Sony' s Gacha Mech Stadium Saru Batore, which debuted at number two with sales of around 38,000 units.

Nintendo' s Donkey Konga 2: Hit Song Parade - which was co-developed by Namco - arrived at number four on the GameCube, with sales of around 32,000 units, followed up by Kadokawa Shoten' s Kishin Hoko Demondane, another new entry at number five.

Three more new entries appeared in the bottom half of the top ten - Bandai' s intriguingly named Monkey Turn V (PS2) at number seven, Nintendo' s Donkey Kong Country 2 (GBA) at nine, and Namco' s Smash Court Pro Tournament 2 (PS2) at ten.

However, despite the large number of new releases, the market slipped significantly as sales of last week' s huge releases - Let' s Make J-League... and Xenosaga Episode 2 - dropped off, leading to an overall decline of about 318,000 units - almost 40 per cent.

In hardware terms, the GBA managed to take 50 per cent market share, leaving the PlayStation 2 with 42 per cent and the GameCube with just over seven per cent.
