But I feel I don' t really have control over the characters in DoA. In Tekken and Virtua Fighter it' s like I' m controlling the characters with my mind but in DoA it feels different. It' s like a push a button and they do tons of stuff by themselves. It doesn' t feel right.

Perhaps it' s because you' re used to other fighting games, where combo timing and the like is different. So, maybe you' ll enjoy the game more after you become more attuned to the system, just a thought...

I also feel the counter system, even though it is improved in DoA4, is too easy to perform. There' s to much counter attacking in DoA.

This is certainly a love it or hate it element of DOA, it always has been.

It' s actually one of my favourite things of the series. I just love how match' s can turn around, just by achieving a few counters. I guess it all depends on what you like out of your fighting games.

I played DoA 2 on the DC a lot so I' m pretty used to the timing and that stuff.

And what is it with final bosses in fighting games?!?!?!??!
They always suck!!! Not only in Doa (even though she' s a Dural copy).
The only really good final boss I' ve ever seen is Bison in Street Fighter.

I see your point. Many are seemingly designed, purely to infuriate the player with their cheapness.

Jinpaci from tekken 5 and that final boss from Street Fighter 3 come to mind. especially that guy from st3, I Finally beat him after 11 hours of wall punching frustration.

I think Zack is my favourite character.
I' m better with Hayabusa, Hayate, Kasumi and Ayane but they' re so damn boring!
I' m still not really into the game yet but perhaps some more low kicks with Zack will put an end to that.
I must admit though, every time I meet any of the ninjas online I just put down my controller and walk away because it feels like I' m fighting wizards. They' re flying and throwing leaves and God know. Stuff like that completely takes away the feeling of a true fight.

:D

Hayabusa is my favourite, but I think Hayate is probably the best.

I play the trickiest with the Kokoro whore though.

Ginjirou... What' s your gamertag??

**Reckons it' s probably displayed somewhere earlier in the thread**

Well DOA4 is not the only game to play you know...

But we can still do DOA too.

i will jump in on this. my buddy LOVES the doa series and makes me play doa4 with him all the time.
i borrowed it from him for a few weeks and hated the single player games! i found them to be no fun at all. either the fight felt like they threw the match, or they beat the crap out of me!
the last boss was horrible and zero fun.

so we started playing 2 player together once he got a 360... and i complained so much about the timing of throws, the lack of certain edge detection, the combo timing, and the countering set up. i beat him maybe 55% of the time in our 600 some matches but i dont think its really a well put together fighter for the masses. only the purists and tight-timed games (like virtua fighter) lover should really apply.

give me the sould caliburs or the 2d street fighters any day!
best fighter for me: street fighter alpha3, marvel vs capcom2 (on dreamcast), killer instinct, and mortal kombat2.... (im sure theres more)

DOA is what Tekken is for the PS2 to the 360. The game play is solid i played the first DOA on the PS1 but the breast physics is what is distracting. Seriously, i dont knw who these girls fight in those loose garments and never a wardrobe malfunction. Thats why there is DOA extreme volleyball. Eventually the DOA girls will end up in a Sexy Beach game of their own.
I prefer real women over these pixilated characters any day...they are 4 real!

PSP' s d-pad sucks something awful. DS' s is much better but still far from perfect. I do like Alpha 3 Max on PSP though, but it doesn' t play as well as say Dark Resurrection. If we were talking consoles i' d say that you can' t play a fighting game properly without and arcade stick.
