I can' t even begin to take this thread seriously when we' re being told to ignore the demo some of us have played and instead soley base our opinions on what' s essentially a replay.
PGR3 and GT4 have stunning replays where additional effects and tons of AA are applied. Same for MotorStorm because the game itself during play has visible aliasing on the vehicles - just like in PGR3.
Going off a demo s bad enough, especially one that is several builds old, ...but going off a non-gameplay video is even worse. I mean, what can you possibly garner from it other than " ooooh cool physics and crashes" ??? Even the parts that appear to be from a gameplay perspective are more than likely from a replay, just like when i watch a PGR3 replay i can watch it from the incar perspective and see the steering wheel etc...
So we' re going off a video " replay" or whatever? Fine, let look at official images taken from some replays and see what we can see, bearing in mind that additional AA has likely been applied...
Ok, 3 720p officially released promotional images. What can we see from the screens that we can transfer into talking about how it looks during gameplay?
NOTHING!
If i looked as those screens i could point out that the texture quality is pathetic, that the backgrounds look like something out of a Nintendo 64 game and that the colour pallate is way too washed out. But i wouldn' t because i wouldn' t dream about commenting on something that obviously isn' t gameplay. I don' t give a fuck how cool replays look, if i did i' d be constantly going on about Moto GP 06, ...and i' m not.
I' ve played MotorStorm and it plays well. The physics are excellent, the AI is great for a racing game, the animations and car handling is spot on [although the handling feels very loose], but the game was way too slow, had framerate issues, suffers from aliasing and blur is overly used to hide the shoddy texture work.
The most important part? It plays well!
I can see what you' re getting at f3, ...the way everything moves is very cool. The damage modelling and physics are fantastic and everything is detailed enough to be classed as a proper next-gen game. But does it show any kind of gap between PS3 and 360?! No. I mean, not only is that a daft thing to say anyway because you can only possibly compare it with racing gaes on 360, but Burnout Revenge looks nicer grapgically anyway and that' s just a beefed up last-gen port.
For somebody who goes on about 60fps being so important, i' m surprised you' re putting so much faith into a game that has framerate problems.
Some PS3 games will look amazing, and MotorStrom does look good but i don' t see what you see.
