The PS3 title that will start to show the technical gap - Dec 13, 2006 06:22
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=15596&type=wmv

Not sure if this is the final build? But Motorstorm certainly looks and moves in a way that ive not seen before, some of the enviroments look movie-like and no matter how much goes on, it seems the animation is always as super-smooth as ever..

Everything just flows much better than ive seen in current PC/360 games.. Im really impressed.

Edit:

I cant wait to see the other titles that have been made from ground up to take advantage of Ps3..

Nice rendering but where is the in game footage showing these graphics? I really do have a distrust for Sony at the moment, which is a bad as I was looking forward to using my PSP as a controller.

Don' t get me wrong it does look fun, however all the fuss over the PS3 has been about the " stunning" visuals the games are going to have, apart from the usual suspects showing in game, there' s not that much difference between PS3 and 360. I am concerned by the rendered stuff being shown, is this more of the sony bs?

also, i dont blame people for miss-trusting Sony, after their track record.

You should go read Kikizos preview, they have played the lastest build. their impressions is what you see there, maybe better.

but come winter of 07 and I' ll tell you what I think about the PS3.

If the PSP had another analogue stick and another pair of L/R buttons that would be possible, but it will probably end up being like a far better version of the GBA connection to the GC...(and DS to Wii)

There is no gap F3, if there is its the other way around, there is a reason why all multiplatform devs says the 360 is best, and its not to look like idiots if it should in some strange case turn out differently!

Saying that it is in-game footage, doesn' t quite instill me with confidence as this was a game that was shown when the PS3 was announced, and the announcement games were rendered footage, this looks very familliar.

its a mix of in game and pre rendered...anyways how hard is it to make a game thats 95% dirt look good?

Ive been keeping an eye on this but so far its having a lot of framerate problems

Thats more than likely Ginjirou, ofcourse there would be differences as there are between the two of the games, but on the Xbox the textures would have been better, and the current version might sport better AI and particle effects than what the 360 can do

Of what I can tell, I don' t think it' s anything that the 360 couldn' t do.

Im sorry to say, but clearly the bar has already been set:

Team Xbox

So yeah suck on that for a bit buddy!

But on a more serious note. This is probably gonna be a fun game but certainly not somthing that will be remebered for years to come. Esepcially with a true next gen burnout game, a new Flatout, and if rainbow studios puts up anoth MX/Atv Unleashed game. All those were very fun games (MX vs ATV Unleashed is quite close to the concept of Motorstorm) and could easily trump motorstorm.

It looks impressive but it' s too realistic for me to be interested in. I can' t stand realistic racing games.
F-Zero, Mario Kart, Daytona USA and WipeOut are my kind of racers.
Motorstorm doesn' t look very realistic so I imagine that might be fun to. I like to fly and crash and that stuff with my cars.
That' s why I don' t have a drivers license

IT kills anything ive seen running on 360, just admit it..

As for showing me more 360 screenshots??

That’s all 360 fans have seemed to doing ever since PGR3. Showing super sharp screenshots that ive been let down with (after ive seen/played them), time after time.

The press (IE Kikizo, IGN, 1up, Gamespot, CVG etc) All claim that Motorstorm raises the bar when it comes to physics, motions, landscapes..

Fan boy counter talk is just silly.. Cant even admit one thing..

Well, saying stuff like:

Everything just flows much better than ive seen in current PC/360 games.. Im really impressed.

You' re almost inviting people to match your claim with media of their own...

What my post was referring to was, can' t people appreciate a good game without
making comparisons, and just like it for what it is?

Youve said it yourself... i mentioned PC and 360.. people should know how much i rate my PC. So it was a miss-judgement if you thought any differently than a genuine, innocent post.

Also, anyone with sense couldnt match that claim, as nothing does run like that on PC / 360. Simple.

If the developers would' ve developed the game for the 360 instead, wouldn' t it have looked the same?

With that I' m not saying the game looks bad, I think it looks great and most importantly, it' s looks fun.
But I am questioning whether or not Motorstorm really shows the technical gap between the PS3 and the 360.
I think it' s a little early for that kind of comparison to be honest.
And we' ve said it before, just as professional developers have said, both consoles have their strengths and weaknesses.

Well that trailer is touched up or pre rendered, like per say replays in GT or PGR3

Some parts showed stuff that must' ve been gameplay. There was a HUD with speed-meter and stuff. It still looked f***ing freaktastic in those parts.
So I think we' ll be pleasently surprised by the game.
Why would they make pre-rendered stuff with HUDS? Wouldn' t make sense.

I' m quite pleasantly surprised by what the PS3 been able to come up with so far. I didn' t think the RSX would be up to it really being an unmodified 7800GTX and all, and I' ve been expecting more from the Xenos too. I suspect most of the post-processing and filtering is being done by Cell.

I mean I was confused about how some first wave games on 360 could have poor framerates or poor aniso texture filtering, and in comparison F1 and Motorstorm look pretty sharp. Not buying a PS3, but I can accept that.

Majik - Codemasters have let me down time and time again, I wouldn' t rely on DiRT tbh. Compare the screens for TOCA3 to the actual game for example, that game looked so good in the screens but was a total let down graphically + in gameplay. In some of the DiRT screens, behind the blur, the rocks look almost square and they' ve copy/pasted the same bush everywhere!

Motorstorm (PS3, Sony): 8 / 8 / 8 / 6 - (30/40)

this is score from Famitsu.
Not bad ,but it' s a little weird because Carbon which is a average game got better score.

It comes from you claiming Motorstorm has better graphics than 360 games. It doesn' t. PS3 has failed to prove it is as powerful as 360. I doubt it ever will prove it is better. Because it isn' t. No HDR+AA, costly AA, only 256MB available to the GPU. It just isn' t as powerful as 360. Cell can' t make up for it.

You get all hostile because you think PS3 > 360 is a fact when it isn' t. It is your (irrational) belief. Then you claim other people are hostile when they believe the opposite.

I can' t even begin to take this thread seriously when we' re being told to ignore the demo some of us have played and instead soley base our opinions on what' s essentially a replay.

PGR3 and GT4 have stunning replays where additional effects and tons of AA are applied. Same for MotorStorm because the game itself during play has visible aliasing on the vehicles - just like in PGR3.

Going off a demo s bad enough, especially one that is several builds old, ...but going off a non-gameplay video is even worse. I mean, what can you possibly garner from it other than " ooooh cool physics and crashes" ??? Even the parts that appear to be from a gameplay perspective are more than likely from a replay, just like when i watch a PGR3 replay i can watch it from the incar perspective and see the steering wheel etc...

So we' re going off a video " replay" or whatever? Fine, let look at official images taken from some replays and see what we can see, bearing in mind that additional AA has likely been applied...

Ok, 3 720p officially released promotional images. What can we see from the screens that we can transfer into talking about how it looks during gameplay?

NOTHING!

If i looked as those screens i could point out that the texture quality is pathetic, that the backgrounds look like something out of a Nintendo 64 game and that the colour pallate is way too washed out. But i wouldn' t because i wouldn' t dream about commenting on something that obviously isn' t gameplay. I don' t give a fuck how cool replays look, if i did i' d be constantly going on about Moto GP 06, ...and i' m not.

I' ve played MotorStorm and it plays well. The physics are excellent, the AI is great for a racing game, the animations and car handling is spot on [although the handling feels very loose], but the game was way too slow, had framerate issues, suffers from aliasing and blur is overly used to hide the shoddy texture work.

The most important part? It plays well!

I can see what you' re getting at f3, ...the way everything moves is very cool. The damage modelling and physics are fantastic and everything is detailed enough to be classed as a proper next-gen game. But does it show any kind of gap between PS3 and 360?! No. I mean, not only is that a daft thing to say anyway because you can only possibly compare it with racing gaes on 360, but Burnout Revenge looks nicer grapgically anyway and that' s just a beefed up last-gen port.

For somebody who goes on about 60fps being so important, i' m surprised you' re putting so much faith into a game that has framerate problems.

Some PS3 games will look amazing, and MotorStrom does look good but i don' t see what you see.

Whats the point of all that??

Im seeing HD ingame trailers of Motorstorm, and its more impressive than anything ive seen on 360, nothing is gona change my mind..

If i honestly see a game flowing like MS on 360, ill be the first person to post it..

When i see 360 games i see High-res Last gen games.. The only evidence of something i was expecting is GOW, and that still dosent throw enough at me to be overly impressive.

When i see Motorstorm i see the kind of physics and animation ive always expected from this generation.. ITs funny that the 3 games that have really impressed me graphically are later PS3 ones.. (MS, VF5 and MGS4)..

As MS is out first, that will raise the bar..

If you' re going to pick a game to brag about don' t pick motor storm - the game is garbage, especially when it comes to visuals, please, the whole thing reminds me of the bouncer for PS2; over-used blur to cover up shitty graphics which in turn just makes everything look shittier. I like PS3, but why brag about one of the shittiest looking games on the console? You' re ruining PS3' s name and making yourself look like a retard in the process.

If I went around telling people motorstorm is a good looking game for PS3, they' d all buy X360' s out of sheer disgust.
