Oooohhhh Noeessss not the red ring!!
-
Dec 07, 2006 02:37
My xbox, has followed, like many others, the reaper into the fields of forever with the bright and pretty red ring. And yes it was Gears of War that killed my machine, i guess being pushed to the limit isnt something the 360 likes, at least not the early ones. Now i need to call the damn support, is it open in the evenings?

I' ve had 3, and since Gears has been in this one, it' s just started being really slow, Gears used to load up the textures rather quick, but now it' s like they purposefully place me in a Red Steel universe, which is none too exciting.. Vx, I will pray for you.

If you haven' t completed SotC I suggest you do.. It' s amazing. Can you still claim on your warranty? Also, did your heart jump when you saw the red lights? Mine does, all the time.

Aw fuck no! What a joke. After an entire year yours, mine and Mass' s die within 10 days of one another. The one i bought when my launch unit (which they replaced with a defective refurbished unit, *sigh* which has gone back again) was only manufactured in October and seems to be holding up just fine. Fortunately i have my receipt and if it fails i can replace it at the store rather than deal with Microsoft' s dumb repair team. Tiz, that sounds like what was happening to my launch unit. I' d die and then when the game loaded the checkpoint the textures took longer and longer to load. Then it started freezing, and well you know the rest already. VX i hope you get sorted out quickly...

Yeah mine died after a few months after I bought it Dec 13th last year, and the second one which was new has some quirks as well. The disc tray doesn' t always want to open, and sometimes it won' t turn on but that problem seems to disapear when I restart it. The build quality and the mic sound quality are my only two complaints about the 360. I think I' ll wait a few months and send in my second unit. Hopefully they will give me one on the 65nm proccess as Canadians always get new units.

That isn' t true. first gen title isn' t usin 360 at maxium, even epic dev said they can press more of 360. You was just unlucky with having a bad system, even though it hold this long(short in reality though...) anyway i feel sorry for you. Hope u get a new one soon m8.

I think Gears is killing EVERYONE' s 360 at the moment... Like when Shenmue was released on Dreamcast, that game pushed the console to it' s limits, my Dreamcast never ever experienced any strain until I put Shenmue in there, luckily for me I always knew what was wrong with my Dreamcast and had a continuous Phoenix Down for the damn thing...

I played it on Hardcore straight away as you unlock both the hardcore and the casual achievements at the same time. Then hit insane... Question: How do you get that achievement to kill 3 enemies 10 different ways, are there even 10 different ways to do that?

There' s the bow as well (My favourite weapon)... That' s the only 3 I can think of. Someone on my friends list has it, when he comes online, I might ask him how he got it, as it can only be done in campaign mode.

Actually, and you have to agree with me on this, this is the silliest f*cking mistake in console history! I cannot accept the numbers of defected 360' s that Microsoft launced, it' s an outrage!!! They should have postponed the launch or whatever they could have done to make sure that they didn' t release such broken machinery! ...btw, I' ve also started to see the signs!

The ET Game. Hands down. Well, I' ve calmed down ever so slightly, (the shouting stopped when people started banging on the door asking if I was alright) . I shouldn' t be on now, but now I seriously can' t focus on my studies.

I know, but the Ps2 didn' t break in the same numbers. I' ve had my Ps2 since its beginning and I haven' t changed it yet. Also, Microsoft deserves kudos for its handling with broken machinery... Just shows how badly they wanna win this war. Even so I cannot help but feel they should have made sure that what they sold wasn' t a machine that couldn' t handel being pushed... I mean, what will happen if I where to put my Gears on the shelf for a year and then decide to play it (for old times sake) and my 360 breaks?! ...Would they still replace it? There' s a lot of money on stake, and I wouldn' t buy a new 360 if they' d decide NOT to replace mine.

Maybe the Xboxes were made defective, so you' d have to send them back for fixing, so that MS can spy on your harddrives ? Cloaked market research, crafty little buggers.

How do you get that achievement to kill 3 enemies 10 different ways, are there even 10 different ways to do that? It' s kill 3 enemies at once 10 different times not ways. Which can be done with grenades. Also Byakko you don' t send your HDD in when you get them repaired. So naturally MS must have hide some sort of recording device in the 360 to get this info.

In Europe you have to send in your hard drive... Then the c*ck suckers re-format the hard-drive... It' s only a matter of time before my 360 kicks the bucket.. I hope it does it after Christmas, I have cousins coming over to see GoW, and we' re not bumping and grinding to Wii Sports all flipping day! I have had nightmares of this... The three red lights remind me of the " Crimson Omen" in Gears of War.
