Need help: My games are too fast!
-
Dec 04, 2006 22:30
Some games seem to act strange on my PC. The two games that I' ve noticed problems with so far are Hitman Codename 47 and the Splinter Cell Double Agent Single Player Demo. The gameplay is ULTRA-FAST!!!! It' s impossible to play! Everything is going in hyper-speed. It' s like the games are on drugs or something. How do I solve this?

when did it start doing this and what are your PC specs? I' ve never heard of this happening before. Are you the only one to use your computer?

It was a common issue with old games as there were no processor lock in those days, so they simply ran as fast as possible, same happened when some geeks upgraded the CPU in the original Xbox, and started playing the games, as there is no need for CPU locks in consoles as the SPECS are set!

Yeah I remember that but these are not old games. Maybe somone or something fucked with his games scripts. Try re-installing your games ginjirou.

Okay. My friend says that he' s heard that in some games you' ll have to turn off your processor in some way if you have a dual core processor. But I don' t know if that' s correct nor do I know how to turn processors off. My specs are AMD Athlon 64 5200+ 2X Ati Radeon 1900 XT 512 MB 2GB RAM I' ll try re-installling but I just find it weird that it happens to more than just one game. It' s kinda fun to watch though But playing seriously becomes impossible.

You could disable one of the cores but I would try to patch your games first. I' m sure that would fix the problem.

I guess it might be that the games do not support multiple cores. If you can disable one it would be in the mothorboard settings. When you start up your computer press the ' delete' key and they will come up. Then browse through and see if you see any options. Although I don' t think that would be the problem. I don' t really know what it is, probably your video card drivers or something.

ORIGINAL: ginjirou My specs are AMD Athlon 64 5200+ 2X Ati Radeon 1900 XT 512 MB 2GB RAM Most jealous of your awesome rig.[:' (] My rig is 2 gens back (x800pro ) I' ll build a new PC in a year or so. I actually upgraded so often (before) that i have so many computers (have about 10 PCs between my brother and i), which is excellent for LAN games, unfortunately my friends are crap .

Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs! What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.

I followed a friends advice to shut off a core and it seems to work. It' s waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier than I though. 1. Press ctrl+alt+del 2. Right-click on the application (my games in this case) and choose something like " assign processor core" (don' t know what it' s called in english XP). 3. You get a list of what I think is processor cores and you just mark the checklist which cores you want running for the application.

" Right Click " on the Icon " My Computer" if it is on your desktop if not " right click" on the " My computer" heading in the start menu, you will get a list and at the bottom you will see properties click on that and it will bring up a heading menu which will tell you everything about your machine and what OS you are using.

Ok, still at least you know the way round the issue, I must admit that it seems very strange that it should happen, maybe you have found an issue that M$ aren' t aware of.
