Wii points - Nov 10, 2006 05:46

Still, we' ll take what we can get. Following is a run-down of some of the best games (prices in Wii points - €1 per 100 Wii points) that you' ll be able to download through the Virtual Console service from the day the Wii launches in Europe, on 8 December.

Legend of Zelda (NES), 500 Wii points

F-Zero (Super NES), 800 Wii points

Donkey Kong Country (Super NES), 800 Wii points

Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64), 1,000 Wii points

Sonic The Hedgehog (Mega Drive), 800 Wii points

Gunstar Heroes (Mega Drive), 800 Wii points

Bonk' s Adventure (Turbografx), 600 Wii points

1€ for 100 pts.? games starting at 500 pts.? thats like 10$ for a game i played when i was 5. and 1000!!? thats 20$ for a game that you could get for DS for the same price. And people say MS is outrageous

yeah its a bummer.

I am not happy with the price of some of the Wii games either.

Zelda cost me AUS$99 dollars and thats fine (AUS$100 is the sweet spot), i' ve always paid that much for games(i think thats around US$70-80) but Red steel was AUS$109 (atleast US$80) - Ouch, wasn' t expecting that!! It better live up to the hype or i will be pissed at Ubi for a while!

Also the Wiimote + Nunchuk combo cost AUssies AUS$100
Thats a whopping US$70-80, and you Yanks though you had it bad!!

Still this hasn' t detered me, I preordered a Wii, Zelda, Red steel, Wiiplay and a nunchuk for the same price as an xbox 360 with no game or a 2 thirds of a ps3 with no game, so i' m happy about that!

Thats 2 cheap games, 2 solid games and 2 controllers!!!

oh yeah and Medieval 2 total war is coming soon so my holiday seasons gonna have some awesome gaming lined up (i' m trying to convince my bro in law to get GoW so i can try it out!)

Is this really an issue to hardcore gamers? I' m assuming that everyone around here knows certain other ways to play their favorite classic games free of charge. Unless these games are being updated with online multiplayer/co-op functionality, I wouldn' t bother buying them again.

The only reason I could justify buying any of them, is the fact that I no longer have my N64. But that' s really the only console I' d purchase for.

& BTW, what are you going to store these games on? memory cards?

Good point. Does the Wii have ANY internal memory to speak of?

Personally, I' m hoping that ALL console would get away from memory cards...they' re flimsy and pretty expensive (in the past), which just made them a constant cash drain and frustration when you lose your games =/

Although, I have to give props to their longevity. My sole PS1 memory card STILL WORKS! Also amazing is that my PS1 also, STILL WORKS.

Wii does have 512Mb of internal memory, its not much but i guess its enough for games saves. The Wii uses SD cards to expand it memory so there is no more memory cards, just Nintendo branded SD cards.
SD cards are a dime a dozen these days

That is nice, but will any SD card work?

It looks like it, but that won' t stop Nintendo from slapping a nintendo sitcker on some and selling them for more.

Who would have figured Nintendo would over-charge you for games you allready own?

How is 1000 points $20?!

If 100 points = $1 then 1000 points is $10

$10 converted into real money is about £6 which i think is reasonable for the greatest 3D platform game ever.

Hmm, Id probably pay those prices. Although if I still had my old consoles, I know I could still get those games from my local 2nd hand shop (more of an antique store!) for about a third of the price.

But I guess that' s just because they wont have as many punters passing through as Virtual Console will. Prices go up with demand, and a few quid for old Zelda is still fair enough. Better than selling Doom for £8 over Live, but not exactly down to microtransactions yet.

Someone should tell these companies that microtransactions are more like when you buy mp3s online for 10-50p!

Forget anything called free.

Wii points?

omg...
Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs!
What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.
