Gears of War DELAYED in Europe RUMOUR

File this under " D" for highly dubious, but a couple of Italian gaming sites are claiming that Gears of War is being held back in Europe until December 7, in order to " counter" the launch of the Wii. There might also be some stuff in there about localisation issues affecting the game' s European release, but Babelfish isn' t always the trustiest steed.

Why Microsoft would do this is beyond me. Which is why I call BS. Then again, you can never discount murmurs of European delays, as there' s quite a precedent for it, I hear

As MS has stated time and time again they are not trying to compete with Nintendo this Generation, Nintendo is doing a whole other thing...this is extremely doubtful just from that first sentence

Well their 6 million pound/euro/whatever ad campaign says the 17th. In fact, i can see a Gears ad right now on this page and it says the 17th.

It could be delayed. These things do happen. If it does though i' ll be pissed at Microsoft because they have no reason to delay Gears so that it can launch against Wii.

In fact, most Wii' s will be pre-sold (Play.com can' t fulfill their pre-orders already) and so delaying Gears would have very little effect at all. I seriously doubt it' s true.
