The Japanese alternative to Gears of War
-
Nov 06, 2006 19:37
And it could easily be just as big. It' s certainly a very important game and every build looks better and better. The most recent shots, which i' m guessing are from multiplayer... ...look pretty damn good. Gears is obviously 360' s flagship title for 2006 and will be until Halo 3 is released, but Lost Planet seems like and awesome gears alternative. Is anybody else expecting an online Lost Planet demo soon?!

I don' t really know why, but this game doesn' t push my buttons, even though it looks hot. It' s something about the mech and laser- things... I want believable weapons aswell as veichles. I' m going to gametrailers.com to check this game out some more. Two quick questions... When is it due to release? Is there any coop? If so, online or offline or both?

This gamer really doesn' t impresses me at all, niether visually or gameplay wise. I don' t know what the big fuss is about but I guess it' s just me.

Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs! What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.

I' m looking forward to Lost Planet more than Mass Effect... Me too actually! But only cos Lost Planet feels more finished than Mass Effect at the moment. I really like the style of Lost Planet atm, and there seems like there' ll be lots to discover about the game when we eventually play through it. Even CliffyB rates it as one of his most anticipated for 360 so far.

I agree and disagree with Rampage on this one. Though I think the games visuals are mighty impressive, the gameplay was no fun, nothing new. Though I have only played the demo, who knows what changes have been made.

I fully agree dionysius, the graphic with HDTV is mind blowing, but the gameplay was " meh" for me. I didn' t like it much... However i do understand what people like you majik see in it,and multiplayer could be a " blast" .

Wow, I guess I' m in the minority here. I think the game is going to be absolutely awesome. The demo was in my opinion, the sweetness. Don' t get me wrong now, Gears visually is mind blowing, but after all the grim/grey WWII shooters, I need a change of visual taste, & with all the whites & blues, & even vibrant reds, this is one of my most anticipated 360 titles.

My problem with the graphics are the textures. I just don' t like the style of them.

I loved the graphics and the gameplay was really fun. You guys have just been brainwashed into judging Sci-fi as bad...well Sci-Fi and Snow textures.

Same here man, this is my most anticipated games out of everything coming out at the moment. I already reserved gears, but if this came out the same day, I wouldn' t take a secong look at gears. I love everything about lost planet, the character animation, the creatures designs, how they hadled boarding & controlling the mechs, and I can only imagine how the grappling hook is gonna play into everything(remember these same guys did bionic commando), Oh, and don' t forget the story, I love how capcom tells their storys. Yeah I have complete faith that this game is gonna surpass what we' re expecting from it, while I' m still abit nervous about gears.

Is anybody else expecting an online Lost Planet demo soon?! There' s definitely a multiplayer demo coming out, it said it after one of the X06 trailers, should be coming out this winter. So it' s not about expecting, it' s about when it arrives! I am definitely anticipating this more than Gears, because it looks less grounded and much more fun to play, it' s a given that it doesn' t look as detailed, but it definitely looks more fun because it has vehicles in the multiplayer section, I just don' t know how long I can curb stomp and chainsaw for the whole of multiplayer which will without a doubt be the only thing people end up doing, and also the only thing everyone will look forward to doing after a while.
There are two rules to success: 1. Never tell all you know.

Very cool alien designs. The multiplayer will make it or break it for me, though.

I agree with Rampage about this game being overrated (except I don' t care about the graphics). A third person action shooter, the shooter where your reflexes and strategy won' t matter. This is basically an arcade shooter which will most certainly suck compared to real games like COD3 or GOW which involve skill and cunning. Does Lost Planet even have an online mode? This game is just shoot at the mass of enemie(s), thats all it is. The only arcade shooters I would let touch my 360 would have to involve a light gun. This game will get very boring really fast and most people won' t even know why. Even the story looks lame, which is inexcusable for a single player game. First and third person shooters usually have a single player game less then 15 hours. Which in itself does not warrent a purchase in my standards. It' s critical for a strong online component. Playing against real people online is where the real game is, the single player is just masterbation. This game is great if you' re easilly amused by seeing a lot of weird shit moving on screen at once. Hey look a giant spider, shoot it! Hey look 500 flying rats, shoot them! and so on and so on... A linear third person shooter with an impotent story. Why are you guys obsessed with this game?

Obviously, this game is not for EVERYONE, as no game is. I, personally, think it' s gonna ROCK! I enjoyed the demo, and I kinda like the frenetic action that it employs. Also, we don' t know anything about the story, yet, but from some of the gameplay clips that I' ve seen, it looks like it' s gonna be fairly interesting. They' ve spent some good cash hiring a Korean superstar to play the lead role, and I don' t think they' d waste money doing something like that for a game with an anorexic plot (though Driv3r kinda dispels that theory, but still...) I guess we shall all see. When is the release date?

360 = running around, shooting things but not at half the PC gameplay levels.. I cant wait for this 1st/3rd person shooting Fad to go away.. It' s the reason why im selling my 360.. Nothing decent to play but dam pad shooters.. 360 owners seem to be craving and giving developers more reason to dish out more uninspired 1st/3rdPS sequels instead of trying to be creative and actually push the gameplay boundries that the standard and ' old' Anologe pad has. Reason why im selling this mutha (360), im seeing/playing hardly any creative games. Even good old Capcom have gone westernised and turned to this shit.. Even good old Capcom have gone westernised and turned to this shit.. Hey, what' s wrong with RE4? There might be a lot of Shooters in the west, but you know there' s just as much JRPG' s in the east... Actually I even think the west have more variation in games, compared to the east. I myself like shooters, even if it might not be my favourite genre. Also there are some mighty interesting shooters with much potential up and comming, Crysis, Bioshock, Halo 3... Also, I' m looking more forward to Bullet Witch than Gears 2. Yet, as of still all I' m interested in Wii is Zelda (plenty of reason) and Raving Rabbids, and with Ps3 all I can think of is MGS4 and FF13 (there are some multi plattform and possible commings, but those doesn' t count).

Actually I even think the west have more variation in games, compared to the east. Now thats just being silly. Anyone who been to Japan knows as soon as you step into the country that games are extremely varied covering areas from total wackyness to serious indepth titles... Nintnedo and Sega of japan alone have covered Much more varied genres than all of the EA' s, Ubisofts or any other western developers you can name, put together with ease. Dont get me worng, i can perfectly understand why people are loving their 360' s especially if your new to online gaming and decent FPs' s.. but for gamers like me, its all old news and extremly unexciting and uninspiring.. Especially after playing grand original games and game genres (new japanese game genres) on my DS. Which is by far the best thing to happen to gaming in a long time.

Didn' t mean it like that, f3. I' m talking about how we in the west are " in general" more open to playing different ypes of genres. For instance, I like shooters, but I like JRPG' s just as much. I play games from America, Europe and Japan, without thinking caring where they come from, only what they provide. The normal Japanese citizen however, doesn' t care much for western games, especially not FPS and shooter games. They tend to stick with games from their country, and their country only. Also, I have been in Japan, as late as this past sumemr and will return there now in winter. And while my visit there I DID enter a number of games shops and not to my surprise there was an overwhelming amount of RPG' s and dating sims all around, whilst western games could be found in small, hidden corners.

oh yeah in that way your probably right.. In japan you certainly get more hardcore ' group' gamers who are just hardcore on one game in general but these groups range from all different games genres if know know what i mean. But then again the DS being so popular in Japan kinda goes against that. hmm it is kinda weird

The japaneese invented Tamagotchi, that shows just how #¤%&ed up they are! edit: no wait! they made RE4, Dead Rising and Mario, oh and Zelda, and that makes them alright in my book! I forgive you for the Tamagochi! No i wasnt traumatised in childhood from a Tamagotchi that died!
