EA hates you! - Nov 02, 2006 20:33
I don' t have the game, or details of the EU version yet, but according to my man Mike over at GAF, Need for Speed: Carbon has day 1 downloadable content.

It' s already on the disc which is weird, but you have to spend points on Marketplace to UNLOCK content stored on the disc.

That' s not the worst of it, the cost of the unlockable content adds up to $50 in microtransactions. An ADDITIONAL fifty fucking dollars (or whatever that translates to for your region) to UNLOCK game data that' s already on the fucking disc!

Heres a list of the parts and items you can ' download' on Marketplace:

The Collectors Edition Upgrade - 800 Points
Performance Drivetrain Bundle - 400 Points
Performance Engine Boost Bundle - 400 Points
Performance Handling Bundle - 400 Points
Ultimate Performance Bundle - 800 Points
Muscle Car Autosculpt Body Kit - 300 Points
Autosculpt Tuner Body Kit - 300 Points
Autosculpt Exotic Body Kit - 300 Points
1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 - 80 Points
2004 Lamborghini Murcielago - 80 Points
2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 - 80 Points

EA ARE A BUNCH OF FUCKING NAZIS!!!

Why the fuck are Microsoft allowing this kind of retarded bullshit?

This is what i feared that companies like EA would do to marketplace

Here we was afraid companies would hide content and release it later over marketplace just to make extra money, but here they are so digusting they arn' t even hiding that.

Here they have a full game and want you to pay more then the price of the game just in content that was supposed to be in the game AND ITS ON THE FREAKING DISC ALREADY-...LOW EA,SO FUCKING LOW.

So basically they " pay" them.

I was looking through the market place yesterday and i think people will buy the 800 pts deal because it comes with like 10 cars plus the upcoming camero concept car. Personally i think this is bs, but if i had the game and actually liked it i would buy the pack that comes with the concept camero

I can' t believe EA think consumers are that dumb...hmm, it' s really sad but people will probably even buy it. Pay to buy the game, and then pay to not play it!

EA are only publishing physical copies of HL2:Eps, so just buy it/dl it over steam Vx. Digital distribution is the way to go.

Isn' t it only $30-$40 over Steam? Oh sry, $60 including HL2 and Ep1 as well. I didn' t know they were bundling the whole lot!

The 360 version doesn' t tempt me. Portal could be fun over Live I guess!

Anyways, EA sucks!

I made a thread about this, and it seems to be the general concensus that it is possible and logical, so probably.

Well, I' m not buying another EA Game then. They WILL screw up Burnout 5...and Burnout was really the only game I bought from them.

Now if the 2k Football (American) came back, EA would finally have to straiten up a bit.

You know, I don' t agree with their whole method of milking their customers for all they can, but if you really enjoy the series you could just; a) buy the pc version or b) just get the game and not buy any of the micro-shit transactions. Personally, I didn' t get a chance to play Most Wanted, so I was thinking about picking that up, used (that way EA see NONE of my money).

i' m not sure about your hope, that' s far from hope , that' s a dream, a lot of people are unware of all this bullshit, many people would buy this game just for its name, NEED FOR SPEED, wow sounds cool , the pictures on the back look cool and it had a fucking whore on the front , it can' t get any better than this...

do you think people will think, hey EA wanna screw us all, wait they don' t know what the fuck is a microtransaction , and when they find out, it' s always cool to them... you know for them they are paying extras... EA and many other developers don' t give much interest to the hardcore gamers, hardcores are just waste of money, they need the idiots, the casual gamers and man this is a great portion of the world. EA loves your money, what about you ? just leave your pocket and die

It would be done eventually not the least bit surprised those Money Whores over at EA did it first.

This undermines EVERYTHING I have done to defend the right for studios to produce additional content for games AFTER the release of a title - and be paid for their work.

Don' t loose hope just yet, hopefully this reaction all over the net will be enough to sway them in future. REVOLT!

Not that appealing a game anyways compared to most wanted, which was actually pretty solid. I' m particularly gutted as I know a couple of the environment designers who have worked on this game and the past NFSMW and in past convos they have been DEAD against this kind of idea.

Bet this was a marketing decision through and through!

Ok, so it' s not as bad as it seems, apparently.

Basically, if you go in and look at the micro-transactions it tells you right there that all of the crap can be unlocked if you play through the career mode. You don' t HAVE to purchase any of it. If you want the crap from the GET-GO, then you can pay for it.

Not so bad.

I guess the only thing you' d HAVE to pay for if you wanted it is the collectors edition upgrade, and that' s only if you don' t buy the collectors edition at the store. Also, not bad.

That' s what I understood from it in the first place. Even if it' s optional, the' re still offering to sell stuff to clueless consumers that they' ve already bought. That' s very low.

Ea hates us, but loves our Money.

In the end of the day, they cannot tell us what to spend our money on, if we dont buy these downloads, then they will follow us.

Its up to us, but usually, the stupid outweigh the intelligent. So I doubt we will see the end of this.
Change is inevitable. Except from a vending machine.
