PS3 isn' t forcing anything, next gen needs a new high-capacity format, it' s a natural transition like DVD was to CDs.
Wireless adaptors are necessary as well, I just bought one the other day for my X360. It' s not pretty having a cluster-fuck of cables accross the walls and floor to run your internet to all your consoles and PCs.
This isn' t anything that they are FORCING me to get, I want this stuff.
Now let' s look at Microsoft, THEY are the ones that force you to pay for things you shouldn' t have to pay for. Take XBL, most of us like to play online, in 2006 online play is a basic feature of videogaming, but we have to pay $50 a year for it - it' s a fucking rip off.
Actually, my calculations were wrong. Here are the correct #s
Xbox360 = $300
100GB HDD = $200
HD-DVD Drive = $200
Wireless Adaptor = $100
XBL for 5 years (if the console is even supported that long) = $250.
Total for X360 to get close to matching the PS3 experience = $1050.00
PS3 = $600
And I repeat, even though you' re paying $450 more, you are still stuck with DVD games because they wont make HD-DVD games, so in the end you pay more for much, much, much, less. Only a blind fanboy would disagree with this.
Sony is practically putting $450 in your pocket. It' s like if you were being offered a stripped down Honda Civic, or a fully equipped Ferrari for only a 30% price difference, would you refuse the ferrari because you just dont need that type of car? I don' t think so. Yeah I dont need that type of car, but if they want to put tens of thousands of $$$$ in my pocket, I am not going to stop them - I' m not a fucking retard.
