Spyware with 2142
-

The game offers ingame commercials, as some might know! what few knows is that everyone dont get the same, as you install 2142 it installs a litlte app onto your PC that watches what you surf for, and the reports it to EA' s add servers, givig you specialised commercials and addds int he game. A little slip of paper tells you about it as you open your game box! dont you just love EA I foudn it on a danish site, they report shacknews as the source!

I hate this kind of thing. Rest assured there will be a crack/hack that will remove it soon. Actually you could probably sniff out their adserver IP and just block it in the hosts file for a quick fix.

So what, not all spyware will make your computer crash. This just means that you will see ingame advertisements for porn and videogames. Most of us get this sort of Spyware all the time and don' t even know we have it. I have Spysweeper and I know it will destroy this shit before I even play the game.

But seriously, who would want present day adds in a futuristic sci-fi shooter?

I think its stupid to have specialized commercials on the screen! i mean im sitting there playing BF, my girlfriend standing behind me watching and suddenly billboards for Hustler Barely Legal, and stuff like that pops up on my screen! How about this scenerario for the rating systems, daddy is surfing the net for nice ladies while the promqueen he married is eating chocolate in the couch gaining a pound a day. Then comes johny, having recieved a shinny new game, BF2142, for christmas, mom and dad helps him install the game on the PC, and wupti the kiddo can play violent video games and browse porn at the same time hey thats not a bad idea! never mind im not complaining!

But seriously, who would want present day adds in a futuristic sci-fi shooter? " Do you want to make them bigger... all three? Then try new..." That' s something like Gmail' s contextual ads. Your email texts dictate the kind of ads you get on your sidebar. It' s fine with me, because unlike 2142 it isn' t going back to somebody, and the only thing Ive seen ads for is games, supersoakers, and " The Electric Company" .

I just bought the game and I' m installing the patch 1.1 as I type. If you have the game add Agent_Ghost to your " buddy" list.
