New Red Steel Videos and preview at IGN (New levels!) - Oct 15, 2006 22:10
Here are the videos:
http://media.wii.ign.com/media/821/821973/vids_1.aspx
Here is the preview written by Matt Casamassina himself:

The new levels look awesome and I think the music is really good.
It looks like the controls are kinda bad though which is kinda ironic since the Wii was supposed to give you better controls.
I hope Metroid Prime 3 does a better job.

I think that they just take time to get used to, this is the first FPS to have controls like this so it will take time.

I think the Graphics are really decent which shows that if the Wii is pushed to its limits like the Gamecube was with RE4 it will be able to produce excellant Graphics.

I am really looking forward to Red Steel now. I am glad the sword play is improved. I am definitely getting this along with Zelda at launch.

Um... wow... they don' t have 1-1 sword control... that sucks.

The game looks great, but I was hoping they' d throw that in. Now all the actual dueling looks completely static & boring. Maybe I was getting my hopes up, but I really thought they' d include something like that.

Probably. It looks unresponsive, the camera moves too slow, the accuracy seems a little weird and it looks weird when you walk across a room and tries to turn and stuff. I guess I can' t say whether the controls are good or not before I' ve played it but... it looks bad. I also hate the animation of his arm and hand when when turning. It looks like he' s pushing something in the air like it was blocking his arm as he turns. Looks stupid!
But the game seems much more fun now that I' ve seen some more levels.
If I would look into the future and see a review of the game I think it would be like this:

Graphics 9/10
Great art direction, impressive graphics despite Wii' s lack of power. No slowdowns.

Sound 8.5/10
Nice music, not breathtaking but it' s definitely good. Voice acting is above average and sound effects are excellent, especially weapon fire.

Gameplay 8/10
New stuff like Wiimote aiming and sword-fighting makes the game cool but the controls are far from perfect. Nothing that spoils the experience though. The ability to shoot key targets and let enemies live is fun but could' ve been used more. The AI is good, nothing special.

Lasting appeal 7/10
It' s not a long game and once you' ve finished it there' s not much more to do. But the Wiimote still makes a second playthrough worth it.

OVERALL 8/10

The Graphics are decent enough, certainly has more FX than ive seen on current Gen games.. and nice AA too.

The sound is excellent too, great music and sowrd FX.

Man Just imagine Hearing a ' CHIINNNGG' Sound and a thud vibraton while u block, All coming from your Witmote. It' s these detials which people will find overwhelming..

Awesome.

Is this game launching with the console? If it does then I' ll get it since Metroid Prime 3 is delayed.
Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, Excite Truck and Red Steel are the launch must-haves for me. They' re all launching with the Wii, right?

It' s hard to tell what exactly is going on... either there is some kind of delay going on between the player' s movements and the reticule' s response, or they just had somebody with slow aim playing in those videos. There was one part in the ' save the barman' clip where the player was attempting to shoot a stationary ceiling light, and just flat-out missed on the first two shots.

I agree with ginjirou, the music is really cool. The environments are also interesting. It was cool seeing the martial arts practice groups through the distorted panes of glass.

I still believe that this game still has the potential to deliver. The graphics look sharper then every. I am kind of pissed that the 1 to 1 Wiimote to sword translation was not achieved but i guess its the kind of steps necessary to firstly introduce the control method to players and secondly to refine the control so that 1 to 1 translation can eventually be achieved.

I am still getting this game at launch (if theres enough stock that is).

If the game is 1:1 to your movements then the sword in the game will completely mimmick the movements you do with the Wiimote, like the baseball-game in Wii sports.
But as it is now the game translates your movements with the Wii to pre-set attacks in the game.

All except Mario Galaxy which is coming out next year.

Ah, **** *** ****** ***!!!!!!!!!!!
Metroid Prime AND mario Galaxy? Pff, might as well buy the Wii next year !

Mario Galaxy isn' t a launch title? It' s my most wanted game so i may not buy a Wii at launch unless theres something else that looks really good

While launch titles are subject to change, and one or two could very well slip, this is what should be expected day and date with the console:

  • Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
  • Call of Duty 3
  • Elebits
  • Excite Truck
  • Far Cry: Vengeance
  • GT Pro Series
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Madden NFL 07
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
  • Monster 4x4 World Circuit
  • Need for Speed: Carbon
  • Open Season
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids
  • Rapala Tournament Fishing
  • Red Steel
  • Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
  • Tom Clancy' s Splinter Cell Double Agent
  • Tony Hawk' s Downhill Jam
  • Trauma Center: Second Opinion
  • World Series of Poker
  • Wii Sports (bundled with the Wii console)

The games listed in bold are the titles i' ll be purchasing when i get the machine on December 8th. I was pretty annoyed that Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 slipped but NINTENDO will need some 1st party games for March/April-ish time when PS3' s bigger 1st gen titles hit so i' m not really bothered.

Anyhoo, i' ll have Twilight Princess to keep me busy for a while!!!

Blegh, if your sword goes ' CHIINNNGG' when it hits another blade, you' ve either A). Broken your blade, or B). Hit it against something you shouldn' t. Sorry, I don' t like it when game developers don' t do their homework on that sort of thing, especially when it' s something I really like.

sorry guys i might need some catch up , what' s 1 to 1 again?
Sorry, I should have been more specific. They removed/didn' t include the 1:1 combat because they didn' t want all their players to have to become swordsmen to play the game... but what if they are? That was a huge draw for me from the

Pfft! All of those suck! You have fun playing your seve... ni... ele... twelve exclusives, I' ll be busy playing Motorstorm & Resistance, and... um... Resistance, definately. And the better version of Call of Duty, wait, CRAP!
