Got examinations in less than a month! And I failed my prelims! And I' m on a forum slacking, lol! Anyway, dammit, does that mean any chance of a port/sequel of Okami (on Wii, since it' s perfect for it) is completely gone!? Doesn' t Capcom make enough money? Surely they could have held off till Clover creates a blockbuster (in terms of sales, quality wise they' re better than many ) before liquidating them

Double Agent in 8 days?????? Why did I think it was the 27th it was coming out?? It was someone on here that said it, and I will hang them by their entrails.. On subject: That' s not fair! Did Okami just put them out of pocket or something? They were very creative, even if I only played a bit of Viewtiful Joe, and am still waiting for the anticipated Okami game.. Oh well.. Roll on Lost Planet!

On the other hand while okami and viewtiful joe were great... God Hand is scum, and makes me wonder if it was really the same studio... it' s one of the worst games i have played in a long time... Thought i' d give it ago for it' s humour, but the game is SO bad.... Maybe capcom played it, and based their decision on it..... Oh well they will join up to the rest of capcom... sure all will be fine.

Unbelievable! Over the last couple of years, I had been surprised that Capcom, a company I had previously associated with some of the most insipid, uninspired, derivative and stupid games in the whole industry, was publishing these amazing games. Now Capcom' s back to being a no-class third rate publisher I suppose. I wonder if anyone else might buy Clover?

Um, is this the same Capcom that make Dead Rising and Devil May Cry you' re talking about????? I also heard that the clover team have basically resigned from Capcom individually and will be setting up their own studio in the near future.. think that one was on www.kotaku.com Was Okami on PS2? I never saw it anywhere, but none of my mates play PS2 any more. Looked very nice too. As for the studio closing, I don' t think any of these games sold particularly well. maybe viewtiful Joe in Japan but I think it was their only biggie. Still a shame to see such purveyors of originality be forced to shut down. Then again, it seems we the gamers don' t want to buy their games

Capcoms most successful franchises are: Street Fighter Resident Evil Megaman Devil May Cry Monster Hunter Onimusha Games like Killer 7, Dead Rising, Lost Planet [from playing the early demo], Power Stone, Viewtiful Joe etc have all been awesome, and Okami looks superb. They have made bad games but in general their main franchises have been constantly among the best games on supported platforms. Viewtiful Joe probably couldn' t evolve much further but Okami on Wii could have been amazing. Hopefully Clovers staff will get the same kind of creative freedom in their new teams.

Um, is this the same Capcom that make Dead Rising and Devil May Cry you' re talking about????? Dead Rising was lucky to come out at a time when almost nothing else interesting was coming out for the 360... it' s not a great game by any means. I' m not saying it' s bad, but it' s nothing as innovative or stylistically distinct as Okami or Viewtiful Joe. Devil May Cry is above average but the sequels have come too quickly in my opinion. Street Fighter Resident Evil Megaman Devil May Cry Monster Hunter Onimusha AFAIC, Capcom is in the running to be the king of sequel-diarrhea. Each of their series could be trimmed to one or two of their multiple iterations without losing anything of importance.

What part of " they only released 1 good game" don' t you understand? How long have these fuckers been around, like 6 years? 1 good game per 6 years = Close down studio. Okami will probably sell like shit too, so they made 1 good game, and it wont even sell well, they are completely useless to capcom.

A good studio, sad to have it close. Not as shocking as the Lionhead Studios bought out by Microsoft news, but still pretty sad.

CAPCOM on the closure of Clover Studio via a Q&A with Next-gen.biz... Q: Can you explain briefly why Clover Studio has been decided to be dissolved? A: Clover Studio (CS) was established in July 2004 by Capcom in order to create new types of titles. Then, the titles such as Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand were produced. At the same time, R&D at Capcom also produced some new types of titles such as Dead Rising and Lost Planet and they were regarded highly at game shows such as E3. Reviewing the existing R&D organization, we have reached the conclusion that we should be centralizing all the resources rather than running two companies. Therefore, disbandment of CS was decided. Q: We’ve heard that the famous creators such as [Resident Evil creator] Mr. [Shinji] Mikami, [Okami producer] Mr. [Atsushi] Inaba and [Devil May Cry director] Mr. [Hideki] Kamiya have quit, is this true? Why didn’t they come back to Capcom? A: Mr. Mikami had already left Capcom in November 2005 but signed on a separate contract with us. Mr. Inaba and Mr. Kamiya have also left Capcom in June and July of this year respectively. Naturally, we had hoped that Mr. Inaba and Mr. Kamiya to come back to us, however, both of them told us that they wanted a new challenge at a new environment. As far as Capcom’s concerned, now all the resources should be used more effectively and more efficiently since they are centralized. Q: Apparently, CS had 64 staff at the setup of the company, what happened to those people? A: Actually, only 15 staff [members were] still left in the company at the time of 12th October. They will be transferred to R&D at Capcom although we haven’t negotiated with them individually yet. However, we will have to examine what sort of organization is required for creating more new titles first. Q: Will copyright of the titles that were produced by CS be transferred to Capcom? A: Yes, all copyrights of the CS titles will be transferred back to Capcom as a process of disbandment of the company. Q: Can you tell us more about Mr. Inaba and Mr. Kamiya? We’ve heard that they are setting up a new company. A: Since they are not our employees any longer, we can’t answer this question. Q: Don’t you think of Mr. Mikami’s departure as a huge loss? Who’s going to produce Resident Evil series from now on? A: We have a signed contract with Mr. Mikami separately. In any case, we have many creators that have worked on Resident Evil series titles and have enough knowledge of the series. Mr. Mikami will also work in our R&D. By the way, Mr. Takeuchi is producing Resident Evil 5 (he’s worked on the original Resident Evil).

CAPCOM own the IP' s so next gen iterations developed by another CAPCOM team is a real possibility. The games aren' t dead, just the boutique-like studio. What is worth noting is that Inaba (Okami producer) and Kamiya (Devil May Cry/Resident Evil 2/Viewtiful Joe director) and Atsushi Inaba (Okami producer) have left CAPCOM completely, supposedly to set up a new studio.

That' s a shame. It' s always sad when a studio closes, no less a studio like Clover. I' m almost not sure I want a sequel to Okami if it' s not going to be by the same people.
