Or am i totally wrong`?
you are a bit wrong - PC games are made to be compatible with many resolutions , so the easiet way is to use " sample textures" in high quality that are then converted to you selected resolution when you play. You can play PC games in 1024x768 for 4 years and then switch to 1900x1080 and you will see sharper textures in most cases.
About CG - it' s impossible to achieve action like LO in Realtime - think about that " sky volcano" and try to imagine it in Realtime. If they can make it as close to realtime as LO - then why would you care?
And I have to agree - It' s definitely not Squaresoft , but Blizzard , that makes the best CG movies.
About storage space - game like GTA3 would be impossible on CD - this huge world have been streaming from DVD all the time.720p movies are big , but 1080p is a lot of data.
When we have 512 MB of memory 9GB equals 18 loadings without movies.18 loadings - that' s how many you' d have in 3 levels of Half Life 2 on current gen Xbox.
You can make huge and good games in 9GB but it seems that 25GB (cause 50 isn' t that common yet) is a nice advantage.
It' s no surprise - MS wanted to be first and they sold many consoles before Sony, but Sony has some upgrades thanks to that. We' ll see who' s tactics are better
One more thing we should notice is that 360 is far from PS3 when it comes to playing movies. It has the drive and 1080p in some cases , but PS3 has HDMI 1.3 (which is really future proof - most devices have 1.1 or 1.2 now) 1080p signal - it' s a great HD player when you look at specs.
MS was doing great until recently when they showed that they feel like they need this 1080p that they said was " nothing" .Sony made them play their game. That' s a bad move - they had a great 720p offer and it made sense.I think it will hurt them in the future.
