ORIGINAL: choupolo Hmm, so does this mean the 360 will be able to upscale to resolutions between 720p and 1080p after this magical update? 1680x1050 would be ideal for me at the moment... Kind of. 360 will auto adjust the picture to fit your display.

360 re-sizes the image and sorts the aspect ratio automatically already though. It would have to be the same for 1080p right?

" Raisin" black is the new in thing... Maybe I really did forget I was black... You have natural sun protection something like SPF 500, I don' t think you can get any darker without cooking yourself.

..what' s the big deal about 1080p all of a sudden? what happened to: " even with [final hardware] in mind, reaching good frame rates at 1080p with next-gen graphics is almost impossible. Instead many developers, ourselves included, are reworking so they run at 720p. " Unlucky for those that were expecting to be able to play their games in 1080p, ...you just got screwed. AGAIN! We probably gonna hear a lot of dev working for sony claiming 1080p is on its way,but i doubt it. In other words, movies will play at 1080p. Games won' t, and maybe never will. Not that this is really new, but it' s always distressing to have the obvious reiterated officially ....f*ck, i' m sick of quoting... ...someone go bump the " No 1080p Games Yet Say Sony" thread (it' s on page 2) to see real idiot fanyboys at work ...

Wow, Sony' s Fnorked. It doesn' t matter what the details are, but once Microsoft can start slapping 1080p on their boxes, the everyday consumer won' t know the difference will they? I wonder what Sony' s reaction' s gonna be to this. " Well, we don' t think 1080p is that much of a deal anyways. Now check out our enemy crabs in 720p!!!" I don' t care about 1080p. 720 suits me fine, but Sony' s losing their Aces in their respective holes, and fast.

I just want to let you guys all know the guy who wrote this article is a nub. Anyways... As of now xbox 360 does not upscale regular DVDs, it outputs them in 480P at the highest and the TV has to do the scaling. This guy doesn' t know what he is talking about, but it would be nice if scaling was enabled in the udpate. Similar to the way the Xbox 360 upscales original Xbox games from 480p to 720p/1080i, you' ll be able to enjoy your existing Xbox 360 games at the new resolution. WRONG! It is not similiar at all. Xbox 360 does not upscale original Xbox games it RENDERS them at 720P. All games are rendered at 720P then scaled to whatever resolution you select. It will not render the games at 1080P. If what the article meant to say is true you will simply have the option of scaling to 1080P. They will still look best on a screen with a native 1280x720P resolution because this is their native resolution. The main advantage is for people with 1080P TVs. They will be able to get an image scaled to 1080P instead of 1080i and it will look a bit nicer. Also someone said you could to 1080P with VGA. As of now the highest widescreen resolution you can do is 1360x768 (you can also do 1280x1024). This means the the update should allow for output of 1920x1080. I would suspect they add a few in between there and perhaps 1920x1200.
