Japan: GCN outsells 360

Since the 360 is so great, does this mean that the GCN must be the ultimate console? I say yes!

If GC cost around 500 kr here,and then they have a lot cheaper price tags in Japan.

The price is part of the product, I mean we dislike the PS3 much because of its price so... is GCN the ultimate console? I say yes!

Nah,it' s just that in Japan they doesnt like american products and isn' t to sure about 360 yet.

Its not becuase japanese people dislike Xbox,there is no much japanese RPG games on it,but Blue Dragon and Lost Odissey will change that for sure,japanese people are more impressed with great gameplay rather than amazing graphics.
There a lot of great upcoming japanese games for X360 and i think thats a really good thing because thats the only way for Xbox to compete with Sony,if the games are good selling in japan,people will like it in whole world.

You see people always have an excause for the xbox brand not selling in japan apart from reality the main one being a lack of rpgs right but after blue dragon and lost odyssey comes out i' ll love to see what other excauses arise.

I have got a feelin that even if the x360 gets a few good rpgs , it isnt goin to do well in japan .. The mindset of ppl in japan is so fucked up they would prefer a japanese product over an american one .. I mnot sayin that GC sucks or anything , but i dont see how a 5 yr old console outsells a next gen console ...

I mean its very expensive even in Japan.
I think they feel ps3 is a safe bet,that is how the avg gamer think.
I hope BD/LO will sell many 360' s but who knows.
Atleast those games might make future japanese gamers dare to take a chance.

I agree with that. Unless the RPG is a major exclusive like the next big Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, then even if the 360 got other great RPGs I still don' t see it selling well in Japan..

MS is doing their best,they keep delivering titles and hire dev,and hopefully at TGS we will see the new " tri-ace" rpg.

I' m very surprised that the GCN is outselling the 360. Even though the GCN is cheap I thought you' d rather save money for a new cool console than spend less on a old. And with the Wii coming soon I' m surprised that even one single Gamecube is sold.

Depends on if Nintendo keeps their word on product allocation. If each store gets fifty or so consoles, then I don' t see why PS2 would do better. I' d use reason and say that Wii will be hours old, and ps2 almost seven, but reason doesn' t really apply to console sales now does it?

Microsoft has sold 75,837 Xbox 360 units in Japan in 2006 so far.

How man ydid they sell at their launch?

i know it was over 100k units but does anyone here know?

So MS has around 170k units out in Japan... hmmm...

Since xbox only sold 400k units.

The GC only $100 the 360 is 400.

Most lower class people are gonna buy a GC because its cheaper. then most younger people will buy it because, well, practically all but maybe 15 games were intended for little kids. Not only that but i know a few people that buy it because they are always moving around and they found its much easier to lug a 2 lb. gamecube with 1 pound cords and a few games than getting a heavier console.

In Sweden you can get the GCN for a little less than $70.
That' s just a little more than what a game for the 360 costs.
