$600 for a PS3 and no HDMI cable

You have to pay $600 for a PS3 and you don' t even get an HDMI cable with it. Hopefully you got one with your TV or you' ll be paying another $40 to get that promised 1080p.

In my opinion, the difference isn' t all that big, you can only really tell with a side-by-side comparison.

So its US$600 + Taxes plus around US$40 (for a decent set) for HDMI cables to get the ' full ps3 experience' . Thats close to US$700 and you can' t get any entertaiment from it (need to buy games and movies and accessories). Ok i can' t really fault them for doing something like this, because they are lossing such vast amounts of cash per unit sold, but it does add more insult to injury to those loyal customers that take the plunge and become early an early adopter of the ps3.

As of right now, it doesn' t matter. The Image Constraint Tokens will not be active until at LEAST 2010 (probably 2012). So, if you have a 1080p monitor, you can currently enjoy 1080p.

Once it' s active, though, the signal will be downgraded to " DVD quality" , or 480p MAX!

I don' t care, though. I' ll probably upgrade by then anyway. Surely once (if?) SEDs come out I' ll replace the Sony CRT that I have. They should be HDCP compliant. And by 2012 hopefully 1080p projectors will have come down in price (or I have a spare $10,000 laying around!)

ICT, when enabled, will only affect analog (incl. component) output, not HDMI. It' s also up to the content makers to enable it--some are opposed to the option.

I liked the good old days of the Dreamcast when your console came with a demo disc, web browser and a phone cable.

I never had a dreamcast! I never had a Nintendo! Hell i never had a PS1 and i wont admit to owning a PS2 (you got no proof!)
