Resident Evil 5 confirmed for 360

Hidden away in their 29/08/2006 Business Strategies " press release" on the Capcom Investor Relations website is confirmation that Resident Evil 5 is coming to 360 and that Devil May Cry 4 is not.

* " Dead Rising" , " Resident Evil 5" , " Lost Planet" for Xbox360
* " Devil May Cry 4" , " Resident Evil 5" , " Monster Hunter 3" for PS3
* " Resident Evil Series" for Wii

There have been rumblings of RE5 PS3 exclusivity for weeks now and rumours that DMC4 would be released on 360. This shows that both are false and that PS3 isn' t getting Lost Planet or Dead Rising and 360 isn' t getting Devil May Cry 4 or Monster Hunter 3 (which will be kickass!) but both are getting Resident Evil 5.

There' s no mention of other Capcom franchises (Megaman, Viewtiful Joe, the sequel to Killer 7 etc) yet as they haven' t been officially announced for any systems yet. But both 360 and PS3 will likely get a Viewtiful Joe game and Wii is almost certainly getting Suda 51' s next game.

Dead Rising has sold 500,000+ copies in the US alone in just two weeks and so Capcom will obviously be hoping to achieve similary high figures in with the PAL release. Strangely the game still hasn' t been released in Japan yet but it' s unlikely to make much of an impact (though if anything could it' d be a Capcom game like Dead Rising) anyway.

It was announced for 360 and PS3 at E305 but recently there' s been much talk of Sony securing exclusivity rights. Sony got Capcom to break their RE4 and Killer 7 exclusivity deals with Nintendo and it' s been feared that Resident Evil 5 could end up being a Sony exclusive.

There has also been talk of DMC4 hitting 360. This proves that the rumours aren' t true.

I also wonder what kind of RE game they are making for Wii...

probably that gun stuff you know ... i don' t think they would make another major resident evil just for the wii...

I know. I' m hopelessly addicted to the mercenaries mode. The only think i' ve found that comes close to matching the experience is GRAW on 360. Shit, can you imagine the mercenaries mode for the next gen version?! Downloadable characters, maps and weapons!!!!

RE5 is one of my most anticipated games and it' s out next year!!!!

I' ve heard 360 has too much RAM and it' s hard to make stupid opponents like Zombies - on 360 they are smarter than humans on PS3 :)

Oh man me too, I played that more than the single player game itself! I borrowed the game of a friend for the cube, and once i cleared it, I just had to beat all his high scores in mercenaries, Which I did, but took ages.

I have the game for ps2 now, and Seprate ways was nice, but I dont play mercenaries as much now, maybe becuase I dont have the motivation to beat that high score. Krauser is the best one mind you.
