I' m going to wait for the extended version as well.

Say, can anyone confirm or deny the rumour i heard today. I heard that they were not releasing the extended Return of the King until December or January, adn they were going to release it in theatres first. I don' t know if this is true or not.

" 11 Oscar nominee " Return of the King" will arrive in a Extended cut on DVD this November. Director Peter Jackson has just finished the edit and it will have a total runtime of four hours and ten minutes."

Thats what i found at the moment, but ill search long and far to find the answer...or just go one room over to my brother' s and check what he has to say.

also heres a interveiw with som1 from New Line http://www.theonering.net/features/interviews/mattlasorsa.aspx
This was a lil before the above mentioned November realease date announcement.

I, too, am waiting for the extended edition. From what I' ve heard, one of the new scenes will likely involve Saruman' s doings in the Shire near the end of the story - the scene was shot but cut out for the sake of time.

I have heard that there still is no scene with the razing of the Shire, even though there is an extra 50 minutes of footage.

No scouring of the Shire? What is up with that? Granted, that wasn' t the most vital of scenes from the book, but still...

Then again, they already screwed up the scene at Mt. Doom, so hey, what' s one more annoying inaccuracy?

Now don' t take my word on it, but i have heard it from a few different sources. But your conclusion was kind of the conclusion that i reached.. adn then really though it would have been cool, it is not essential.
