In general it seems to be the case.
This isn't my usual, but here's a US indie band who gave up their guitars and became an electronic outfit for their latest album. My wife's favourite album at the moment, I love it too.
Animal Collective - My Girl Anyway EvilEmofagMan, I know why you'd generalise that, but Europe has a pretty weird scene when taken as a whole:
The UK listen to UK & American pop/r'n'b/indie
The French listen to almost exlcusively French music. They have some great Hiphop, Metal and Jazz that I've checked out, all sung in their native tongue. Exceptions are some breaking but still pretty underground metal bands (Gojira (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5By-5mLHk4&feature=fvst) are well worth a listen if you like Meshuggah)
The Germans? They gave the Hoff a music career (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8)
The Norweigans regularly have Black Metal in the charts. It's the music genre their country spawned, everyone in the UK thinks I'm a weirdo for loving their church burning manianess. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joEAb_y7ZYA)
I don't follow much else. The Spanish & Italians are c*nts, and the Eurovision song contest allows Israel in. WTF?
