I was anticipating a 360 demo blowout.. - May 17, 2006 04:31
Is it just me? Or if any1 else was wondering......

Why have the playable E3 demo' s not been included on the market place?

When I saw gametrailers showing the Sonic demo (gameplay), I went nostalgic
and school girl mode (it died when they put Silver on). At that point, I then
wanted to play GoW and all the rest, I hope it' s just a case of them having trouble
putting them out...

If not....

Corporate heads will roll! Does anybody know if these demo' s will materialize
or are us guys with no ability to go to E3 not privilaged enough?

Yeah Yeah I hear you say But what about all those trailers?

You could get them on the net! Microsoft should capitalize on this and make them
freely available, and I know they can, look at:

TDU

MOTO GP 06

AND LOST PLANET!!!!

The demos were unfinished code, I doubt they want to put possibly buggy software out there for people to try.

But thats what Lost Planet is: Unfinished

It always says at the beginning of a game that it does not represent the final
version, and the only person to not understand what that means for a 360
demo would probably be a PS3 fanboy

My point is, it' s a taster of what is to come, so why not capitalize on the
clear advantage they have over their competitors? Instead they put up that
pre-pubescent Chris Brown who' s career is over once his voice breaks.

Buggy or non-buggy, a demo is a demonstration of things to come.

Why would any game, whatever Alpha it is, crash the 360 permanently? Does it fiddle with the bios or dashboard or something? Still... I would not want any of my consoles to turn into useless bricks.

That being said, if said demos have that kind of ability, would they really risk showcasing the game at E3? I think not.

So I take it you are all for a demo blowout on the Marketplace?

Btw to people who trashtalked the Too human alpha shown at e3.
First of all, denis said he had to show something playable no matter what quality in this e3.

second read this

" I thought maybe my opinion of the game would change upon actually playing it, which I did...However, playing the game only reinforced my negative reaction to this really ordinary experience. Not only is the control scheme awkward, but the split-screen mode looks like a Nintendo 64 game. The frame rate routinely froze during the action, and it sputtered along the rest of the time. I also wondered how it would look on a normal TV. The high-definition, wide-screen set-up used at E3 worked well, but how many gamers out there own a wide-screen TV?...Kick ass? I just don' t see it."

This was a preview of halo at e3 2001.
Enough said.

Well, what if you end up thinking the game is crap. Sometimes they' ll refrain from releasing a demo before they' re sure you' ll like it. Even if they write, ' this is unfinished code' , most ppl will lose interest anyway.

I think GoW sp needs some work before they release a demo, or else all their hype will go down the drain. It' s ok for it to be demo' d by a dev on stage, but let it loose on the masses and they' ll tear it apart on forums etc. After all we' re all expecting a lot from the game.

Plus putting a demo together often distracts them from working on the game itself, but of course you have to balance publicity time with development time. If a game is ready, I' m all for a demo. And the Lost Planet demo really perked my interests.

what can people expect on finale game?
Better frame rate up to perhaps 60 fps, more enemies detailed animations and much more weapons and the skill system and level which hasn' t been seen, and that you can change your armor.
You will get special things by killing enemies and get new technology.

Also the voice script will be larger then eternal darkness they said,i never played it,but i hope that is good.

I don' t fully understand the demo uploading procedure. Developers tell you that the game will be on marketplace on whatever day, then it doesn' t turn up for at least another 24hrs because it has to be sent to Microsoft and they have to check everything and aprove it.

They said they were uploading a PDZ demo and haven' t bothered uploading it yet. The damn thing was a launch title and they' ve had demos of it for ages (for tradeshows) so how come it isn' t up yet?

It should be noted however that there will be a large update at the end of the month although it' s features are still unknown. It could be that they will be changing much of the menus including the download list nd they' ve decided no upload them after it' s done.

Ofcourse they might not let us play anything else and instead just leave us with the trailers already available...

Hell no....

I would not stand for that!! I' ll give it until the end of the month, if there is
nothing I' ll be pissed..

(Or I will just keep on playing Lost Planet, Moto Gp, but not Test Drive Unlimited)

Speaking of TDU, I really do hate that game, fair enough it' s fun, but it' s one
of those GTA games where getting your bounty up is more fun than actually doing
anything constructive in a way of missions.

Wait.... where was Kameo 2? I hope they give her a sword....

MS said they would put e3 into your 360 and they delivered like 30 trailers, and backstages interviews and the conference over at our marketplace.

Now demos must be up to dev?
Dont you think?
Developer themself says it interupt dev time for their game to much, and we got 3 demos,Lost planet,TDU and moto gp 06.

I think they delivered what they promised.

They did, but 3 is NOT ENOUGH!! (grr, so they didn' t to me)

I don' t think any1 can honestly say that they did not want play GoW...
even if thE characters arms were falling off but the gun was still shooting,
(hypothetically speaking, it didn' t happen in Cliffy B' s demo) I think
most people can accept it' s a game in progress.

Well, as long as they start bringing out the demo' s BEFORE the games are
released (it kinda defeats the purpose of releasing them afterwards because I
can play it in the store and that is the full game), then I am fine and not at all
bothered. Now bring on the update where we can download and play at the same
time!!!

I never played a game in a store before purchasing it, i almost always purchase because of either good reviews or extreme amounts of hype (like GoW for example)

I always play games in shops, most admittedley (and full of shame) I completed
Sonic Adventure in a shop... what? It was there fault for leaving the VMU in there!

But I always like to try the finished version before I buy, because a lot of sites
have mixed reviews ie Edge gave Shenmue an 8 (which is good as Edge are
the Simon Cowell of videogames) and Gamespot gave Shenmue 6.8, so
reviews are always mixed; which is why I don' t really depend on them.

All credit to Microsoft for their coverage of E3 on Live. Ok, so we only got 3 demos but there are loads of trailers and a few backstage things which are interesting. I' d much rather watch a trailer in HD on my 26" screen than on my PC monitor. Hopefully some more demos will be out soon. I' ve my fingers crossed for the e£ Sonic demo making an appearance!

Yep. I am all for it.

Oh yeah... I vaguely remember tha bad preview of Halo 1. Wow, how things change. The reasons you give for being against a flurry of 360 demos are quite valid - many gamers, upon playing demos, would never give that game a chance anymore. Still, if it has at least one more year in development, the next demo would change it. The mentality of gamers though do believe that if the demo is bad, the game is bad. Yup, there' s good logic there.

Yeah, the ample amount of trailers is enough for the most part. Still, I would hope the demos do pop up when the game is near completion.

I, too, was anticipating some form of demo showcase - I couldn' t wait to get off of work and come home to check out what goodies they had added.

They delivered on the demos they announced, but I was still hoping for some form of *cough* Gears of War *cough* surprise. So, in the end, I' m not necessarily disappointed; I was just hoping for that " last hidden gift under the Christmas Tree" feel.

Oh well, they can always add more!
