PS3 INTERFACE REVEALED

Sony was showing off the PlayStation 3' s top level interface AT e3............The UI obviously borrows its appearance from kid sibling, the PSP, with some new console centric tweaks: there' s a " Users" menu, a web browser with some impressive (albeit very Mac OS X-looking) features, and " Friends" support for voice and video chatting, oh yeah, and gaming.It' s a sleek-looking piece of work (as is customary for Sony) but let' s hope the thing scales well from the start. With the copious amounts of functionality being bundled into Sony and Microsoft' s next-gen offerings, scalability should be central to the design. Of course, this is something Microsoft is (hopefully) rectifying right now in the 360' s Dashboard (right guys?).

The subject of more ridicule than J Allard' s hoodies and the Xbox 360' s Japanese sales, Frame City Killer, has finally been put in the cancellation bag and beaten to death with a hammer. Also knowns as FCK, the futuristic third-person adventure game featuring a Tom Cruise clone in a sharkskin suit and $10 sunglasses, was met with confusion and the occasional giggle when it was revealed as an Xbox 360 exclusive last summer.

Anyway this is what it looks like, but i think it' s probably a placeholder mockup. Ofcourse, the PSP' s menu works very well but here, on a big widescreen TV there would be so much unused space.

Well, the interface looks sleek enough, I guess. Still, nothing particularly impressive about it at the moment. Much rather watch the 60 second PS3 conference again.
