Some rumours ... (FFXIII among others)
-
Mar 31, 2006 20:15
Source : www.1UP.com " The May issue of EGM, which we' re thumbing through right now, hints that before Final Fantasy XII is released in the U.S. Square Enix plans to unveil Final Fantasy XIII at this May' s E3. This issue also reveals in its rumor mill section that we should " expect a brief teaser video and confirmation from the publisher that the RPG will be a PS3 exclusive." This corroborates rumblings we' ve heard that Final Fantasy XIII is practically close to being finished, and Square has been holding off on revealing it until FFXII (which was delayed several times) was released in Japan. The issue also features some other tasty rumor nuggets worth checking out: Mario Paint for DS, a new PSP design (and new functions), and a sequel to a popular SNES/N64 franchise for the Revolution (read the mag to find out which it is). In any case, FFXIII at E3. Commence freaking out. We are."

" expect a brief teaser video and confirmation from the publisher that the RPG will be a PS3 exclusive." Absolutely NO surprise there. If it' s an offline, numbered Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game then I don' t think the cowards at Square Enix are gonna release it on multiple platforms.

Looks good, hope the game lives up to its expectations! But you never considered it might be the FF7 remake? you know, the " Tech Demo"

FF7 tech demo was awesome, what are you talking about? The point of the demo was to show that they can make much much better graphic then what they had CGI on before, and that they can have a big world with that high realistic feeling, and that this is how ff7 would have looked on a ps3. And this engine will probably be used on ff13,however this engine kept little of " ff7" cartoonish look, but that will probably change

FF7 demo engine ...we' re not sure if that thing even exist really - it wasn' t shown on actual PS3 hardware. MGS4 was the closest to showing realtime PS3 footage and still it is questionable(I know this game will look that good , but it wasn' t running on a PS3 hardware). I wouldn' t be surprised if FF13 turned out to be another Online RPG based on experience gained while developing and later improving FF11. FF7 demo exists - FF7 demo engine ...well not necessarily

Square responds: " While there have been numerous rumors about Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix has never released any information about the title. The recent online article stating that the title will be exclusive for PlayStation 3 and shown at E3 is not based on any official information obtained by us. I hope readers will remember April Fool' s day is tomorrow and many Print and Online outlets pull pranks ever year, before they get their hopes crushed by a joke." -- Sonia Im, PR manager at Square Enix" Guys who wrote about FF13 being made are saying that it was not a joke.\\\ that " is not based on any official information obtained by us" part suggests that it could' ve been a leaked info - Square didn' t actually deny anything :)
