UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2007 SHOTS SPLURGE

Fresh views of the Unreal Engine 3-powered killer crunch in like a bullet between the eyes

10:14 Unreal Tournament 2007 is the latest incarnation of the splendid Unreal Tourney series which has been fragging hearts and minds on the PC since what seems like time immemorial.
Powered by Epic' s mighty Unreal Engine 3 - the FPS engine of choice for the next-gen - Unreal Tournament features all the series' trademark carnage-fuelled gameplay as well as the usual winning mix of vehicles and high octane weaponry.

Very saucy it' s looking too in this latest selection of shots, which feature a mean UT hombre, who looks like he' s been dealing out death before breakfast since he was a nipper in short trousers. As a bonus, there' s also some splendid concept art of the Axon Hellbender vehicle, looking like a sort of souped-up four by four with added rocket launchers, making it perfect for that morning school run.

I can' t be the only one who has fallen in love with this franchise. In my opinion, the best online multiplayer ever. Oh well, no matter, I know I' ll be getting a copy of UT 2007.

Unreal is a decent entry-level multiplayer FPS, tho none have come near to the perfection that is Quake III and its mods such as RA/Threewave...

Unreal Tourney ' 99 was my favourite. So many mods! But I have to say I don' t know much about 2k7 to get very excited.

I have to admit that Quake is an excellent game, but for me I have always been hooked on the Unreal franchse, and you are correct, Quake Wars does look great, they' re both worthy of playing.

I loved Quake 1 - for it' s original art style and weapons (with cool sound)

UT2007 looks great , I' d love to see some gamplay footage- I guess Gears of War will show similiar level of visual splendor.

I' ve always liked the unreal games, but I only play them on my friend' s pc, cuz mine can' t handle it. it' s waaay faster than CS, but in CS there' s more aiming skills involved. I love CS, but Unreal is great too. I guess I' ll be playing this one at my friend' s house again.

So true.

Quake III is still, even now, better than any Unreal Tournament. Quake III demands REAL skill!!!

People argued excessively over which franchise was superior and you better believe the argument will be re-ignited in the form of Unreal Tournament 2007 vs Quake Wars...

Quake Wars is gonna severely rock Epics tree, ...and even better is the fact that Splash Damage and ID have hinted towards a 360 version...

Now THAT' S Unreal!!!!

LMFAO at how nubish you all are. (besides canadagamer)

It is really easy for me to tell how little you know and what games you have and have not played. Just to let you know I' m not the only one with logic. Other people also realize this and frown upon you.

I actually thought that it was certain for the Xbox 360. But i know its only officially developed for the PC, im guessing it wont take many months for it to grace the box though.

I never really liked the Unreal weaponry, some of it is really far off, best weapons in the genre is from Quake II, they should really have kept that shotgun through all their games!

Quake 3 Arena was genius.

Unreal Tournament encourages camping with weapons like the Sniper Rifle and Redeemer while Quake 3 Arena actually requires real skill for rocket jumping, grenade jumping, plasma jumping, plasma climbing, strafe jumping, ...hell even circle jumping which takes a stupid amount of practice to get right.

Unreal Tournament just feels restrained in comparison. It' s slower and not as balanced as Quake 3 and i' ll take a Railgun over a Shockrifle any day of the week.

The one thing Unreal Tournament got right was the inclusion of vehicles and even that area has been bettered by games like Battlefield.

If it' s between Quake and Unreal i' ll take Quake, ...otherwise i' ll stick with Counterstrike.

no dumbass. Loco was refering to what I said in the very first reply. This guy is payed to spew press releases as fact on forums. Very cheap, very effective advertising. So moron, before you start another flame war know what people are talking about. You are new, yet you think you can constantly down everyone and tell them their opinions are wrong. Just stop Dragon, because if you dont some of the older, more respected, and more synical members (Im looking at you, Joe) will have to tear you a new one.

And what? You' re a 40 year old man who has nothing better to do than spend all day on a forum. This is not IGN or GameSpot, if constantly starting flame wars is the kind of thing you like you should go there. Programmer wannabe? Ive passed courses in Visual Basic, .Net, and C++ and will be taking my certification exam next year. Canadagamer' s post was full of opinion and hype, no facts. I said that before he started posting more, but that is irrelevent at this point. The fact is that there is a mature Quake vs Unreal discussion going on and you come in telling people " Your opinion doesnt matter" . What makes yours more important than his? All you do is try to correct or outright tell people they are wrong and throw in " bitch" and " dumbass" then claim you' re the mature one? You have started quite enough arguments on Kikizo. We dont need another Fathoms.

Actually, it seems I owe you an apology, Dra6on. I misread what Loco said/meant, and now I must agree that he was being an ass. So sorry Dra6on. As for you Loco, Quake III is better by leaps and bounds. 2-3 times a week in my Networking class we play Quake III despite the fact that we all have UT2k4 and Quake IV. Quake III is regarded by many as the first and greatest popularly played online FPS. And to claim intimate knowledge of which games forum members have played/play/own is ridiculous. Thats not to say its the best ever, but it has definately withstood the test of time better than any of the Unreal games.

No worries dude, no worries at all. I have a lot of respect for you and i appologise for being overly aggressive

What do you want to end up doing, career-wise?! Games development?!

I' d say if you are already doing Visual Basic, .Net, and C++ you' re off to an excellent start, much more so than when i was your age (i' m only 23 mind and doing my degree).

RE: UT 2007 - Mar 04, 2006 10:50
Alright, here is my opinion of what is better. I' ll let you know my experience that I have so you know why my opinion is the way it is. I' ve played all versions of quake (1,2,3,4 and all expansions for each). I' ve also played all the Unreal and Unreal Tournament games. I' ve also played many other fps games new and old, I started out playing wolfenstein 3D (the first fps game). I' ve been playing them since they' ve existed. I' m not trying to brag here, just give you my experience. I' m very good at first person shooters and I have played in professional tournaments. I could be a " professional gamer" if I wanted to take that path. So here is what I think about them.

Quake 3 Arena was and is the best as far as " pure classic deathmatch" is concerned. Free for Alls and CTF.
Quake 4 is pretty much just Quake 3 with some minor changes and better graphics. Quake 3 is actually better because it doesn' t matter what part of the player you hit for the amount of damage. It really shouldn' t for the type of death match it is.
Unreal Tournament was a better game for things like assault and instagib.
Unreal Tournament 2004 is what I would say the best multiplayer FPS is.
UT2k4 adds a lot more to requiring movement skill. There is a good variety of weapons and they all are very balanced almost as much as Quake 3. It is better than quake 3 because it adds much more skill with the movement aspect. It is also much better for team type games like CTF and Bombing Run and of course Onlsaught. It is way faster paced than any other FPS. It requires much skill in both movement and aiming. Also with UT2k4 strategy plays a lot bigger role as well. In Quake 3 the levels and weapons aren' t designed so much for that but for " pure deathmatch" .

Since someone was talking about counter-strike. CS is much more based on strategy and aiming. You can' t compare it much because it is a much different game.
"If you knew how good I am you would think I'm modest."

I hope it comes out on 360, but even if it does I' m still much more interested in Huxley which is a fpsmmo using unreal 3 game engine.

EDIT:
Well after reading everyones posts, mine doesn' t fit into the conversation. Oh well tough shit I' m drunk and I' m not changing it.
