Shenmue was one of those products (next to some Ferrari F355/4x NAomi board/ and other expensive Arcades) that made Sega leave the hardware business (the cost of this game is in Guiness Book). That' s why they' re not so eager to make a new one - the sales were terrible while investments were huge.

Adam Doree wrote: Although I don' t know where he gets the bit about western innovation versus jp devs though. Silas wrote: Spot on, that' s exactly what I thought when I read that comment. What? It' s Japan we look to for innovative gaming, not the movie licence clogged Western market!! Indeed very strange since I' ve also seen Hideo Kojima make this remark a while ago. .. And the guys from Ico also said something about the innovation in Halflife 2. Sure it has some great technical achievements but the Japanese often come with more special ideas. It' s usually more than a technological achievement in their case. And indeed, nice to have the interview! But as Silas said, some more information about a Western release may have been nice. Or was this one of the things you weren' t allowed to tell?

yeah it' s bad - it really sux. Half Life 2 has a great way of storytelling but japanese games are so amazing. I hope they won' t follow our crapy US and European Devs :)

It means they' re maintaining copyright on all Sega artwork and text that appears on the website. My copy of Excel says " (C) Microsoft 1985-2001" . This is because it contains code that goes all the way back to the 1985 version. Without exhaustively checking every single element on the website, they put the Copyright (c) Sega 1999-2006 and it covers all contingencies, particularly if they change the artwork. Which they may well do, but it has nothing to do with whether SIII or even SO is going to come out.

It seems we get those " Shenmue.com is back! Could this mean Shenmue III is coming?" posts everwhere we go, eh Silas Thanks ]GaNgStA[ , this place is pretty cool. It' s hard to find a decent forum these days.
