Huxley - Feb 08, 2006 02:42
I found out about this game a few months ago and even though it won' t come out far a while I can' t stop thinking about it. Its a FPSMMO made by Webzen using the UNREAL 3 engine. This game is going to revolutionize video games or at the very least raise the bar a hell of a lot higher. This and Oblivion are one of the few games I care about. From now on I' m only playing kickass games, if its not wicked I don' t want to look at it. For anyone interested heres the best Huxley fan site, which has a link to the new video which I highly recommend to anyone with the slightest interest in video games.

Here' s a link to the clan I' m part of, we' re the largest dedicated Huxley clan for the 360. http://www.freewebs.com/omegabattalion/index.htm

Yeah, i' ve been watching it for a while now, along with Gears of War. It sounds promising to say the least, but it' s going to have hefty competition in the form of Epics own UT2007. The premise might be completely different and Huxley will offer tons of depth, but they need to make people see that. Otherwise, it' s just another Xbox Live shooter.

The visuals looks good, but i don' t expect it to out-do Gears of War or Too Human.

I' m actually looking forward to the Too Human trilogy more than anything (the trailer blew my mind).

MMOs dont often excel in visuals anyways, so Im not expecting much out of that area. However if it turns into a run and gun stlye game I' m definatly passing. Im hoping the enviroments are interactive and stuff (whether it be shredding it to peices Black style or using it as cover ala Gears of War). Thats the reason I got bored with Battlefield 2.

At least its somthing new for MMO games.

now this is the kind of game that will make me buy a new pc. I' ve been meaning to buy one for quite some time now, just never got around to it. I love fps games. I love counterstrike. Huxley seems to be just what i want next. What are the recommended specs for this game to play smoothly? I have a fast internet connection already (6mbit/800kbit, and will upgrade to 7mbit/1mbit). My pc though, I hate my motherboard, it' s a piece of shit.

I might get a asus a8n (or w/e, i forgot the version now) sli enabled, with a 64bit dual core athlon, somehwere around a 4800 or something. 2 gigs of ddr ram, a big hdd serial ata 2, 16MB cache and one nvidia 7800 GTX should set me up for a good 2 years. It sounds expensive but I could get this pc for about 1200 dollars (if u look at PCs with this price on it at bestbuy or whatever, lol, u' ll get a piece of shit pc). I know just the right places, small computer stores that have cheaper prices on brand names, and no the parts are not refurbished .

More of my coursework this year is computer based (although i still have 2D animation and illustration to do), so i spend all day connected to the internet while i work.

I haven' t played on my 360 in about 5 days. Deadlines suck!

I try to reply to whatever, i really like it here. I actually came here from Gamespot and i haven' t been back since. It' s quieter here but that' s not a bad thing, it means you get to know people quicker and it' s more sociable.

I think my girlfriend is starting to hate the internet, she' s busy all the time at the moment too and everytime she comes to see me i' m typing something. It' s amusing.

Still, i need to really go all out on my coursework this year because next year i' m on a placement with a developer somewhere (it hasn' t been finalized yet). I' m actually behind with some modules but it' ll all come together no-doubt.

I could just take ANOTHER year off...

Huxley is coming out for PC also. I looked at a ingame video and damn, it looks good and I will need a better PC for this.

Nah it wasn' t sarcastic KiLLeR (me, sarcastic?), but it was a little overkill...

Anyhoo VX, since games will be my career... (see>>>)

...everything i do kinda revolves around games. I' ve taken 3 years-out of this course so far, i need to straighten myslef out i think. It took a lot of phonecalls to get them to accept me back onto the course (i deferred a year, took a year out and had time off following an injury, ...i' m finishing up my 2nd actual year at the moment. September will be my 3rd)

I love games!

...even more than little miss shoutalot here...

it wasn' t overkill. it' s the truth, anyhow, doesn' t matter...

is this game gonna actually be a fps?? do u know if it will be fast paced, cuz I like fast paced fps games, like CS, or Halo 2 multiplayer (it gets crazy in there with 16 peeps). more info plz more info.

I just downloaded winning eleven 9, first time playing it and man it' s hard, but it rocks. much better than any EA Fifa games. too bad the players don' t have their real faces...

The premise is similar to Planetside and you should get 128 (i think) players in each map.

I' m not certain how the story will pan out but i expect it' ll follow the trend of most MMG' s and ' events' will take place at certain points.

Console gamers won' t really ' get' it, ...it' ll be huge on PC though.

" Im guessing its just about the same as Planetside? you played that game? it was fun for a few months!"

OMG its nothing like planetside, that game blows! Huxley controls and looks like a fps only it has game structure of an mmo. Imagine having over 100 people in one battle. you can create guilds and if the guild is powerful enough they can aquire territory like say a mine and use it to generate wealth to buy weapons and armor or...tanks. The more i read about this game the better it looks.

Speaking about clans if you want to join the largest dedicated Huxley clan for 360 join Omega Battalion

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/huxley/686013p1.aspx
here' s a great article on Huxley

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/huxley/686013p1.aspx
part two of the article

This is the game I' ve been searching for since I was 7 years old. Every game I' ve ever played has been a build up for Huxley. We can' t compare the entire game to another as no game has ever even tried to do half of what Huxley aims to attain.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Erm, Planetside is a MMOFPS with hundreds of people taking part in battles to hold territories and stuff. It has guilds and clans and factions and rubbish like that (no offense). It had, way back then, ...pretty much the same aims as Huxley does. Oh, and look, it also has 3 different sides to play...

Frankly, while Huxley' s aims are higher, i just can' t see it taking off on 360 like it will on PC. On the PC it won' t ever reach the amount of users as WoW has.

I don' t pretend to know as much about the game as you, ...but then i' m not a member of OMEGA BATTALION!!!!!

ROAR!

I agree with Majik on this one. It' s gonna take off on the PC. On the xbox 360 too, just not as much. But what if this game becomes another halo 2 in terms of multiplayer? (oh wait, it can only be played online, hahaha, me so dumb). nvm, what i said about halo 2. I was thinking something along the lines of, this is what the 360 needs, an mmo, to attract a lot of other gamers, and who knows, it might just do it. Looks like Huxley for the PC is gonna need a powerful PC, judging from the graphics, so for those that would have to go and buy a video card, they can just get a 360. An MMO like this might be just the game that may push MMO lovers into buying a 360 (even tho it' s gonna be for PC too). but just " may" .

Doesn' t Planetside control like Guild wars? the combat isn' t even in real time.

Planetside isn' t a true fpsmmo, really its just an mmo that has guns in it.
Huxley is a fps first and an mmo second. Basically its a fps that actually has a reason for players to keep playing after one month.

I never said it would be a halo 3 killer in terms of sales, I said it would be the best game ever made, at least for my tastes.

The thing that will probably turn me off of this is the fact I' m madly addicted to LMS and LMS style game types. And I have the feeling this will be a game of re-spawning, which isnt horrible...but just not my thing

I have this idea for a mmo (actually an entire layout spanning several notebooks), that is my long term goal in life to bring to the masses...hopefully the path I' m going down right now will allow this.

Mass X could you outline some of your ideas for the game you imagine? And what is LMS?
