For some reason, sound has never been anything I' ve cared about. Of course I want good music and sound effects but I' m very satisfied with a couple of stereo speakers/headphones as long as the bass is somewhat powerful.

I don' t have that much experience with DD and DTS but I have to say that DTS track seems a bit quiet and I have to turn up the volume.Maybe it depends on a movie I don' t know , but I had this issue at least 3-5 times. As much as I read DTS is definitely the winner (and the lower compression sums it up).The problem is- if anyone is going to hear the difference. I think that Doom 3 had the best sound effects lately.Subwoofer is the .1 part of 5.1 - that means no game should be judged based on subwoofer alone. I' m not saying that channel separation was great - just that it had incredible immersive sound with fantastic surround effects in movie like moments. That' s something I wouldn' t get on PS2 or GCN
