How do you play your games? -What' s your Setup - Dec 17, 2005 14:53
I wonder if many people have a 5.1 surround receiver or HDTV or how many still play on avarage TV and stuff plus what systems they have.

My setup right now is:

Sony WEGA 36" SDTV
Sony DVP-S725D DVD Player (used also as a CD player)
Denon AV-1802 5.1 [Prologic II/DTS/DD] Receiver
5 Avance Omega Speakers (almost full set - I still didn' t get the subwoofer)

Systems :
-Sega Dreamcast Black Sega Sports Edition
-Playstation (with custom Clear Blue outfit :) )
-Xbox (Metallic Silver , with blue light on Xbox Logo , 120GB Seagate HDD and some other small modifications)
-Nintendo DS Pure White

What' s yours?

Toshiba 30HFX84 30 inch HDTV
Kenwood DV505 Reciever and speaker/subwoofer set (5.1 DTS, but alas no 6.1)
Samsung p240 DVD player (and cd' s)
Gamecube (black)
Ps2 (black)
Xbox 360 (unshiny white)

And let' s not forget the kickass logitech harmony 520c remote to control it all. Funny thing happened, I used my remote to turn off my 360, and it turns off all my controllers too. I was not expecting that, but still pleased.

Whoops, nevermind. I just noticed it was a thread for those with 5.1 or HDTV!

Well then, that calls for me reposting what I originally deleted!

I probably have the crappiest setup! I have a 19-inch screen TV with an annoying glitch. I' ve got to hit the side of it hard 1 to 3 times everyday after the image and sound cuts out...

Anyways, I' ll list the stuff I have from the 32-bit era till now:

1 Japanese White Sega Saturn

1 Japanese Dreamcast
1 U.S. Dreamcast

1 Japanese PS2
1 U.S. PS2

1 Japanese Xbox
1 U.S. Xbox

1 Japanese PSP
1 U.S. PSP

1 U.S. GameCube
(still working on getting a Japanese unit)

1 U.S. Gameboy Advance
1 Japanese Gameboy Advance SP

1 U.S. Nintendo DS

(with the exception of the Sega Saturn and original Gameboy Advance(light blue), all of the other consoles and handhelds are their default colors)

Next on my list:
The week after Christmas I' ll be picking up a Japanese Xbox 360... I' ll get an American Xbox 360 sometime in late January.

RE: How do you play your games? -What' s your Setup - Dec 17, 2005 16:06
my main room features:

-Sony KD 34XBR960 34 inch TV.
-Ummm.. lots of space-age sound and video gear. Really good sound. Trust me.
-Couch
-Gamecube (black) - set up with component video
-Xbox (black) - set up for component video
-Playstation 2 (black) - set up for component video
-Sega Dreamcast (white) - set up for component video

I don' t use that room for gaming too terrribly often as those systems don' t have a whole lot of gameplay value unless I love first person shooters or Tom Clancy games or crime games or countless Mario spinoffs. Instead I spend most of my time in my other gaming room which features:

-Some form of SDTV, Advent I think - It' s small but pretty good.. even has component input.
-Stereo sound (sounds pretty good) and a cool AV switcher. I mean cool.
-Chair.
-Sega Genesis (black) with Sega CD and 32X (all original models)- set up for composite video and stereo sound.
-TurboGrafx-16 CD (black) with System Card 3 as well as Arcade Card Pro and 6-button controller - set up for composite video and stereo sound. I' ll get System Card 1 one of these days, just so I can play Allturd Beast!
-Sega Saturn (black) - set up for S-video and stereo sound.
-NES (grey) - set up for composite video and mono sound.
-SNES (top half=grey, bottom half=weird nicotine-ish color). Recently swapped out bottom plastic with a friend' s abandoned SNES so my SNES is all 100% grey now - set up for s-video and stereo sound.

Much easier to get that Japanese Xbox 360, huh!

My setup includes:

Sony VPL-HS51 projector
133" Da-lite Acoustical Imager (high contrast)
JBL 5.1 speaker set (came with screen)
Yamaha RX-V4600 with video upconversion and 2 HDMI outputs. Capable of 7.1.
Directv High Definition satallite tuner

Modded Xbox with 300GB hard drive
Xbox 360 (sitting horizontally, thank you very much!)
Slimline PS2
Gamecube (black)

Also, right now I' ve got some crappy Toshiba DVD player, which I plan on returning to the store. Problem is I' ve only got one HD input left on my receiver, and it' s HDMI. This means I could go buy a DVD player that has HDMI output, or I could just keep unplugging something that has component jacks to use my DVD player! This is not acceptable. Henceforth, I shall continue to use my 360 as my DVD player until HD-DVD players hit the market.

The end.

lol, not just easier but preferred. I' ll get an American unit later on, but the Xbox 360 game I' m most looking forward to this year is an import game.

22 inch Viewsonic P225fb monitor. Xbox 360 sitting vertically with VGA adapter. Sound blaster audigy 2 platinum on my PC connecting my 360 with dobly digital 5.1 optical cable. Combination of logitech 4.1 400 watt system and altec lansing 2.1 130 watt system that only uses one speaker and the sub woofer for a total of 5.2 500 watt surround sound. roflcakes.

Also connected is a Treamcast and an original US Dreamcast with VGA cable.
And a viewsonic TV thingy that connects to my monitor.

It is kind of annoying because i have to swap cables everytime I play something different. And KVM switches aren' t good enough for me, I can' t allow any slight degrade in quality.

All of my stuff is crapping out though. I have to turn my speakers up pretty loud or else I' ll get some strange crackling hiss out of one. The glass in my monitor is kind of loose and it takes up my whole desk. My computer is 3 years old and the motherboard needs to be replaced. My xbox 1 randomly turns off, but that is solved since I got my 360. But in the summer this will all change for the better. I' ll have a viewsonic widescreen 19" LCD, the best cambridge 5.1 system and a new PC. w00t.

WRESTLE KINGDOM! Yeah!

Ok, so the question becomes, Terry, how can you have this game (which looks pretty awesome, btw) as one of your most anticipated titles, and NOT PUT A SCRATCH OF INFO about it on the website? You trying to keep this wrestling goodness all to yourself or something?

Do you at LEAST have a release date? Is it coming stateside?

Scoop please!

I' m low-tech...a 27" Sharp TV and one XBOX unit w/ DVD remote.

It' s nice for the games to look and sound good, but gameplay is where it' s at.

(another way of saying that I have no $$ for the good stuff, so this is what I have to put up with)
Videogaming is the contemporary interactive pasttime.

Any chance of getting some pictures of your gaming setups? I' ll grab one of mine...

Basically the biggest piece of kit I own is my 26" Samsung HD TV. I only have some cheap Creative speakers for it but it sounds better than the TV sound itself. Also I' ve a cheap and crap CD player due to be replaced soon and a Multi-Region DVD player. The only consoles I have plugged in and ready to play are my PS2, Gamecube and obviously 360. My Xbox is sat in a conrer complaning that I don' t love it anymore. Though I' m keeping it so I can play the Xbox games I have if I ever want to.

Only pictures I currently have are of my PSPs and games.
Would need to do some redecorating in order to get visuals of the other stuff

This is how my setup looked at home before i got my 360, don' t have any recent pictures though. And I don' t have a digital camera to show off my college setup.

my little brother plays on this downstairs

my room normally isn' t that messy, at the time I just got everything unpacked and setup.
