Severe 360 shortage.
-
Nov 22, 2005 17:19
I' ve been waiting patiently for months for this console and now it looks like some of us will be lucky to get it this year. I' m so angry, I feel like killing Bill Gates for his 360. Why did that dumb ass prick have to ship so many core units. Feel free to post your fustrations about not having the damn thing on day one in this thread.

Not sure why you' re so angry - we were all warned multiple times that this would happen. If you pre-ordered early you should be in luck but if you think you can just rock up to a store now and get one, it' s not going to happen.

Microsoft could have shipped a TON more if they had wanted to. Why didn' t they? Because a supposed " shortage" gets people talking about it like crazy, it makes the news because people line up and when someone finally gets one after much strife they are euphorically happy. This is tremendously good PR for Microsoft. It makes the 360 an item that you just " gotta have no matter what" . Because of this people start paying outrageous fees on eBay and similar places, showing that people will pay nearly anything just to have it. It creates an urgency to possess one even if the launch lineup sucks ass (it really does, BTW). They will say things like " We are holding some for Europe" or " This is a result of a worldwide release" , but it really is just PR. Microsoft knows what they are doing, and I commend their saavy, though I' d rather they just release everything they had for each country, more or less.

I agree with Joe. They said it themselves that they wanted to hold bak on the number of systems so the demand for the 360 increases. I really wanna get one but don' t have the money for it right now, so I' m gonna wait out a bit.

Microsoft has denied holding off consoles, they said they wanted to avoid this. Im not sure they are really holding back on consoles, it could just as easily become bad as it could turn out good. I just hope my console will be waiting for me in the store. I was number 4 to preorder in that store!

it could just as easily become bad as it could turn out good. At the first sign that things aren' t going as well as they are now (such as real, legitimate negative publicity) you will suddenly see a steady flow of 360' s to stores, and then all of the people who threatened store managers (actually happened) and camped out will feel pretty dumb (that is my hope) due to all of the craziness they were part of. Is it really worth it to have the console right away with its dearth of games? Will your life be better overall for having the thing a month (or so) earlier?

That' s one good thing about living outside of Europe, Japan or America. Our launch lineups won' t be so crappy come early 2006.

I wish i was in your position, round where iam the stores are taking down names but not accepting deposits, so all you get is a crappy leaflet in the post telling you when its out. I just hope i get it before christmas so i can just hide away in my room.

I got my 360 but only because I waited 11 hours in line.

Hmmm... 1. but you use pal so you can import from europe, and play the games there. 2. at march ps3 will probably be release, atleast in japan, and you can mayby start to see a worldwide release price drop to make as much people as possible spent their money on 360 instead of a ps3.
Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs! What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.

For a while I was considering importing it from the UK but unfortunately the Pound/Euro doesn' t convert nicely to Australian Dollars - and my chances of actually obtaining and importing one close to the release date was slim to nil anyway. So by the time I did get it, March would be close enough to not bother with importing. Prices for the Australian X360 are $AU499.95 for the core and $AU649.95 for the premium. These prices may seem steep to most people but it' s not for us. The Xbox launched in Australia for $AU649.95 too. Knowing Sony, I really can' t see the PS3 appearing on Australian shores until closer to 2007 or later. It took them close to a year to get the severely overrated PSP down here (I just don' t see what' s so great about it).

à think anyone in outside Japan and maybe the US, shouldnt hope to see a PS3 before 2007. I was the one who said there were no good xbox games. and to me there really isnt any, i have already completed Halflife 2 on the pc, i dont like Sonic (except the 2d ones), then there is PoP 3, i hope its more a long the lines of Sands of time than WW.

Sometimes I wished I lived in the States, they don' t know how good they have it they get all the games and fair prices.
