Shadow of the Collosus

Anybody hear had a chance to play this yet? I' m not sure of release date, but I do know a bunch of reviews are out. EGM game it a 9.5, a 9 and a 9 I believe, IGN gave it a 9.7 (rediculous high score) and gamespot an 8.7. I think with reviews like this this is a must ahve game for me, but I' d like to hear some users from the boards opininions.

I haven' t played it yet, but I do know it is 16:9 480p. ICO was stuck at 4:3 with a resolution of only 320x240.

Okay, I got it and am playing it. WOW!! It is such a unique looking game. I' ve so far beaten three out of the 16 colossal " colossi" . In the dictionary it states colossal means " of a size, extent, or degree that elicits awe or taxes belief; immense" and I' m telling you they ain' t kidding. This game looks good, plays good and is good. Classic in the making IMO.

I just rented the game. A MAZ ING. Honestly, I' ve never seen anything like this before. The first time you see the first Colossus, you will be amazed, there' s just no other way. If you' re not much for searching, you may get tired of trying to find the damn things, because as big as they are (and I cannot describe the size adequately) The world is insanely larger. It does suffer from some frame rate issues, understandably when you see what' s moving on the screen. There' s a moment in the game ****minor spoiler here***** where you actually have to fight a flying Colossus, and you' re on it' s back and it' s flying over this lake and mountains, and the world is screaming by you, I' ve never experienced a gameing moment like that.

The games music is mostly R&B with some Hip Hop thrown in during the boss fights. It works mostly, but the 50 cent track running when you fight the first boss is a little off, and doesn' t quite fit the mood Ok, I kid I kid. If you' re a fan of big orchestral music, then this is the best out there. All very very epic feeling. Only problem I' ve found with it so far is that sometimes when fighitng a boss the music will just skip back to an earlier part of the song, with no smooth transition.

I didn' t mean to say the music skipped, rather it' s obvious they try to have faster tempo music for standing on certain areas of the boss, and if you fall right off, it doesn' t do a smooth transition, it just jumps straight back to the old music, but only on a few occasions have I noticed that. This game definetly could benefit from a more powerful system though, i agree. I shudder to think what it would be like running at 60 fps.

mxpx182, I didn' t get your joke at first. Though the game music was going all Samurai Champloo on us. Nice to hear it' s looking good though. I bought ICO on the word of one review alone but they were upping the game so much in a fashion I can' t remember seeing before or since that I had to buy it. Hell, I' ll buy this just because it' s been made by the same people. Now all I have to do is wait for it hitting the UK shops, damnit!

At the very least I hope I come away with a MUCH better feeling for Shadow of the Colossus than I did with Ico. But I think that' ll be easily accomplished since one of my major gaming related " turn-ons" have always been HUGE, Gargantuan, Colossal, screen filling bosses! And from what I' ve seen of the game, I' m gonna totally OD on the stuff!!!!

Ok, I' m 5 minutes from finishing this game. I needed to take a break because........ ........the end bosss is probably THE most annoying boss ever. Every Colossus in the game is a blast except this one. I hate it, and really can' t wait for it to be done. My brother in law is about to finish the damn thing off, and I ..... finally. This game is awsome. Just get someone you hate to play the endboss for you.

Ok, I' m 5 minutes from finishing this game.. How many hours did it take you to reach the final boss from the start of the game till that point?

Hmmmmm, that' s tough, I' d guess about 10-12 hours? I never really looked though. Maybe a little more, cause I think you can pretty much average 45-50 minutes per colossus. You have to understand though that I had only rented the game, so I really wanted to finish it befor I took it back, so I used gamefaqs If I got stuck too long(I know, cheating, but I really wanted to finish it rather than get the satisfaction of beating it without help). The ending bit Is very good, not much dissapointment there at all.

Nothing wrong with using Gamefaqs at all, I' ve used them for every Resident Evil game and have already made plans to use them for Resident Evil 5
