xbox 360 controller on PC
-
Aug 31, 2005 10:03
So I remember reading or hearing about something and I think it was an official announcement type thing from that bald dude with the earing, that you could use xbox 360 controllers on a windows pc. So I see how they probably will have official drivers for the USB corded controller, but what about the wireless controller? Is there gonna be some kind of adapter or something, or can' t you use this with your pc. I' ll want to use a controller on my PC, but I don' t want no stinkn' wires.

I would assume using the play and charge adapter kit you' d be able to use the wireless ones on your PC if you can use the wired ones.

Okay, so we can use the wireless controllers, with our PC if we have the kit thing, which would make it wired. So anyone have any idea if we can use it while it is wireless? If it comes to the point where I have to use it wired on my PC, well it comes to that point. But I' m not a big fan of wires. My wireless mouse improved my aim so much in FPS, no damn wires getting in the way or holding it down for inconsistencey. Now I doubt a wireless controller will help me out that much, but I love the freedom feeling. I guess once and a while I have to move the controller to get more conftorable or something because the cord gets in the way. That may help me for every 1 out of 1,000 fraggings. But I' m american and I value freedom above pretty much everything.

I' m doubting this, simply because Microsoft hasn' t talked at all about an RF reciever accesory. With 360 having the reciever built in, what' s the point of making one? Although, this doesn' t stop 3rd parties from developing such a thing......

Actually MS decides what third parties make when it comes to Xbox stuff now.

Couldn' t Microsoft look over say Pelican' s proposal and say " ok, if you want to make an RF reciever, great, but we' re not" ? I was thinking more along the lines of that.

I once stumbled across a 360 flyer that had accessories (sp?) shown, and only the wired controller had mentioned that it could be used with Windows. (Don' t ask me for a link though)

As to the controller, it will be compatible with XP and Vista (I would imagine). But you will need a device driver. You can by a wired controller for $5 more than the typical wired XBOX360 with a driver. I am not sure if that means if you have a regular controller that you will have to somehow find the driver elsewhere.

XBOX 360 PC controller I remembered this topic when I readt his article. Not sure if whoever was asking about this ever got a definitive answer on this, but here it is. Yes it' s PC compatable, you have to pay 5 bucks for the drivers it looks like.
