' Super' Nintendo was a direct response to Sega' s ' Mega' But i think Sega lost their way a bit after the Megadrive. Wondermega megajet etc... To me the word drive created a sense of immense power - not the name of a golf or game. Drive, ambition, success. Which is what the console achieved. Looking back its easy to pic holes in pretty much anything from the 80' s & 90' s. Megadrive is a better name than Master system tho! Generally I prefer the UK names for consoles.

I still like " Dreamcast" . Just seeing this logo always got me excited.

I loved that system. Everything about it other than the somewhat lacking list of AAA titles. At least the AAA titles on the console were absolutley amazing! Dreamcast... say with me- " Dreamcast" . It' s so great.

The Japanese TV ads for Dreamcast games were awesome cause they all ended with the sound of kids shouting " DREAMCAST!" .... I was always annoyed with Sega of America for not importing that into their TV ads.. Hell, why the hell did they even bother creating their own ads from scratch, they should have just translated and used the Japanese ads! MUCH cheaper and easier I would think!

This topic should be retitled " those were the days" . I think Rampage has a tear in his eye he' s reminicing so much! I never had much chance to play a dreamcast, but I do remember liking the few games I played.

Kids shouting " Dreamcast" ? Bleh. This isn' t Nintendo, they' re not trying to appeal only to 6 year olds. Not a good idea. The best advertising was for the Sega Saturn in Japan, none other than Segata Sanshiro! He' d kick your ass simply for doing other things like having a life rather than playing Sega Saturn. Sega really needed those commercials here.

For some reason I can VERY EASILY imagine that the door to Joe' s house is wired to one of his sound systems, so whenever the front door opens, it automatically triggers the sound system which blasts out the song " SEGA SAT-TAN SHIRO, SEGA SAT-TAN SHIRO" throughout the entire house!

You can not like Sega " too much" . Back in the day when I decided to become biased, I asked myself one simple question: " Who shall I be biased towards?" . The answer was simple: SEGA! It was easy because they had Space Harrier.

Well SEGA helped raise me so why shouldn' t I have lots of love for them? ;)
I stick with them through the good times and the bad! Till death do us part.

LOL.. Actually I pretty much echo what Joe said above. Space Harrier was and is still one of the greatest of all-time!

Until Sonic I was a casual gamer. Which is strange as its a pretty soft core genre. But I can remember all of the games so vividly and still play them to death on my mame cabinet when i have the time. I didnt have much pocket money and only had another 2 or 3 games when Sonic came out for my Megadrive - I think i used to play it through straight maybe 2 or 3 times a day getting all the chaos emeralds just to pass the time. There were only so many laps of super monaco gp and levels of crack down a kid could play. It looks so ahead of its time then, and still looks stunning today. Imagine if 2d games had really continued to evolve from then to today... Come to think of it I must dust off Sonic Jam for the Saturn. Anyone up for a 10 player saturn bomberman!?
