Good. Now they can fit 8.6GB per disc instead of, what... 2.2?

That' s nothing short of REvolutionary. Good for Nintendo, rocking the foundation upon which all our video gameing ideals rested upon. Ahh well, at least it' s more than the optical. If this is a big cost saver than ok, but It sure would have been nice to play something whose discs had a little more capacity. As to the wireless controllers I' ll give that a big " hell yeah" . Looks like you' re going to have to start memorizing all those terrosim defence color codes for the controllers Joe!

All I know is that it BETTER read " Matsushita" or " Panasonic" on the Revolution' s DVD drive when the casing is removed for a peek under the hood of the hardware!

It' s like with Sega, whenever they develop a new arcade board or console I always say that it BETTER have a Yamaha Sound chip in it as those two companies go WAYYYY back!!

Terry do you crack open every new Sega arcade game, just to make sure? If it doesn' t have a Yamaha sound chip, do you deny it your quarters? Did you open up your Gamecube?

Actually I just constantly harass Sega' s arcade division for the audio specs of every arcade unit they release. So far so good, every arcade game I asked about supposedly had a Yamaha sound chip so all is well on that end... No need to crack open my GameCube as it isn' t Sega hardware but I did crack open my Dreamcast! Cause with all the cutbacks they made with the cheap ass Dreamcast controller sporting LESS buttons and the CD Player interface sucking more than any other game console CD player interface I just had to be sure we didn' t get short-changed with the soundchip..

Has every Sega console had a Yamaha sound chip (besides the master system)?

Don' t know if this site' s listed specs for all of the consoles are 1000% accurate but the sound specs appear to be more accurate that not...
http://www.pcvsconsole.com/features/consoles/

The Sega Dreamcast:
Yamaha Processor
64 2D Voices
ADPCM
2MB

The Sega Saturn had:
Motorola 68EC000
Yamaha FH1 DSP
32 PCM Channels
8 FM Channels
512KB Audio RAM

Sega Genesis:
Z80 (3.58MHz)
TI 76489 (PSG)
Yamaha YM 2612 (FM)
10 Channels
8KB Audio RAM

The Neo-Geo also received some Yamaha love with:
Yamaha 2610
15 Channels

The Neo Geo sound was the same as the Genesis sound, with the exception of 6 or 7 more PCM channels!

Genesis had 1 PCM channel, 6 FM channels and 3 PSG channels (the same PSG' s that the SMS used). The Z80 which ran the sound also ran SMS games when you used the Power Base Convertor. I' m not sure if the Neo Geo had the 3 PSG channels or not.

lol, I still remember the breakdown of the Neo Geo sound specs --- 7 PCM channels, 1 noise channel, 4 FM, and 3 Programmable Sound Generators... All total its 15 sound channels.

OK so it DID hve the PSGs. I didn' t know that the noise channel actually counted, as it doesn' t in the Genesis or Master System specs (all it does is make a static-style sound similar to white noise). I remember Chad " SNK GAME LORD" telling me that the 7 PCM channels are dedicated to voice! Of course this same guy tried to tell me that the games are measured in megaBYTES and not BITs. Yes, those 7 channels can do voice. But they can also do digitized sound effects, sampled musical instruments (all SNES sound channels are PCM) and the like. SNK USA misinterpreted the term " voice" and underrepresented their system as a result.

And overrepresented it when they advertised it as a 24-bit console. lol..

Yeah, well they had to make up for lost time.

They should have included 2 more FM sound channels and then I bet the thing could have run Genesis carts with a simple low-cost adaptor. If Sega knew what was good for them, they could have made and sold the adaptor themselves.
